Welcome to Chartered: The Golden Age, the boardgame that allows you to become a golden age merchant and kickstart the growth of Amsterdam.
How did we develop Chartered? Have a look at the (Dutch) video below.
Chartered: The Golden Age contains a double sided gameboard. One side with more room for merchants to build warehouses in the city center, usually you would use this side with four to six players. The other side is compact and situated in the harbour, where players are forced to have more interaction. The harbour side is usually used with two or three players, or for shorter four player games.
All elements in the game are premium quality from the start, so no bad quality cards or chips that need to be upgraded by unlocking stretch goals!
The main elements in Chartered: The Golden Age are the warehouses you use to build in Amsterdam. Each game includes a total of 104 stackable warehouses, in three different designs.
What do you do in the game? You build, you buy and you plan your victory. Turns are quick and the rules are short, below an overview of your typical turn followed by the 4-page rule book in different languages. Note that because of the reached stretch goal, the English, Dutch, French and German rulebooks are included in print in the final game.

Jolly Dutch Productions is a new game publisher, set up by Alexander and Arnold in the Netherlands. We combine our love for (board) gaming and entrepreneurial spirit to develop new games, specifically looking to bring together families and friends for a jolly evening. Having spent many months (blind) play testing, we are proud of Chartered: The Golden Age as it stands.
Henk-Jan had the challenge to turn our concepts and ideas into beautiful artwork in a matter of months.
Risks and challenges
Over the course of several years, Alexander and Arnold developed Chartered: The Golden Age to the fully designed and production-ready game it is today.
Despite it being the first game developed by Jolly Dutch Productions, Alexander and Arnold have worked with one of the largest board game producers in Europe (Ludo Fact, based in southern Germany) to ensure all obstacles are taken away and classic Kickstarter pitfalls are avoided. The designs of all elements have been thoroughly tested and checked. In the same spirit, shipping has been arranged with veteran Kickstarter project fulfilment companies.
We just need to raise the funds and place the production order! We will do everything we can to ensure on-time delivery and keep you up to date on our production and shipping processes, also informing you of any unforeseen hiccups.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
