Suspending the War of the Cross Kickstarter

To all our backers,

We deeply regret to inform you that we must, once again, cancel the Kickstarter for War of the Cross.

After our first Kickstarter for the project failed, we did our best to take the feedback we received from the community and make the necessary adjustments to help ensure its success, as well as to attempt an expanded marketing push on the game’s behalf. But we’re now forced to acknowledge that those efforts were ultimately not enough to attract the kind of response we needed to make this project viable, from either the existing 7th Sea fan community or the strategy board game community in general.

It is possible that we may barely hit our funding goal for the project. But after seeing the second round of feedback, we’re now also concerned that enough work needs to be done on the game that our funding goal would not be sufficient to pay for the additional development costs, additional production, marketing, printing, and shipping, especially given the amount of resources we have already committed to fulfilling on our other Kickstarters.

To be clear, we haven’t given up on War of the Cross—we think it’s a solid design that deserves to be put out into the world in some form, and we’re committed to finding some kind of solution down the road in that regard. But right now, we feel the right thing to do is to close this out and go back to the drawing board.

We know this is going to be disappointing for many of you, and we apologize sincerely for that. We’re eternally grateful for your support and commitment, and your patience with us even as we make mistakes and continue to learn from them. We hope that one day, we’ll be able to make something out of War of the Cross that you’re going to love.

Thank you.

I have loved 7th Sea since the first edition. I am enjoying the 2nd edition that I backed when that project was on KS. I happily backed this project both times and I will do so yet again when it returns. I would much rather wait for you all to be able to do this game right rather than rush it out and not feel confident in it.

It sucks that this is not happening yet, but I understand. I look forward to round 3

Color me as still interested should you ever decide to take another stab at the proverbial brass ring. I'm sure there are lots of stretch goals we never got a chance to see, and perhaps there are options for hyping up the game out there that can build an audience large enough to see it properly published.

In the meantime, I wish everyone involved the best, and here's hoping for more favorable winds another day.

Given how close you were, I would have expected the 48hr rush to more than push you over the line. Really disappointed to see this cancelled a second time, but appreciate the transparency.
Hope to see this come back again some day.

The success of many games comes from the quality of the stretch goal items (with cool figures as each goal is attained). Your first run had next to no incentives to buy with Kick-starter. Your second foray was a little better but not near enough. I am a huge fan of the 7th Sea Universe and want to play this game. Please get serious with your stretch goals so this can happen.

I loved the concept of the game but I appreciate your honesty and persistence! We are rooting for you! The third time is the charm (I hope)!

To be completely blunt... I just wanted the minis. I'm harvesting them for D&D. Perhaps releasing the minis and then later releasing the game. As in a 2 part type thing?

Doublekill. You should do your best to attract interest for the third time.

That's rough, but I appreciate the transparency and honesty. Thank you.

I appreciate your candor and hope to see a third attempt (and hope it's the charm). I know this must be enormously difficult, but I feel confident I'm not the only one to say that it's more important to do it right.

Meanwhile, we still have the RPG, which is brilliant.

      Thank you.
