THE POWER OF EXO-SUITS: INTRODUCING GOLIATH!
Sure, building fantastical fortresses, and creating creatures is inspiring. But in Spark Rising, you live for the battles. All that creation is wasted unless you can destroy things, right?
All the defenses you create, traps you lay, and troops you command are nothing in comparison to the firepower of your exo-suits.
Think of exo-suits as giant mech outfits you jump into. They instantly increase your size, speed, firepower, and more. Each exo-suit has distinct class-based abilities, which have certain strengths and weaknesses depending on how you tackle a skirmish.
PICK YOUR EXO-SUIT LINE UP
You can bring several exo-suits with you into battle from a collection of many. Unlike other class-based games, where you are locked into one role, you can switch out of your exo-suit while in battle. This isn’t instant though, you have to jump out of one suit to get into another, sort of like taking control of a vehicle. During that transition timeframe, you are vulnerable, so you have to be smart about how and when you want to switch up suits.
EACH EXO-SUIT CLASS IS UNIQUE
Each suit has unique stats, and attributes. We'll go into more detail about this later, but here are some of the basics in this sample stats card:
INTRODUCING THE TANK EXO-SUIT
We plan to have a number of distinct class-based suits, but for now we’ll talk about the tank exo-suit. Let's check out the specs for Goliath!
This is one imposing war-mongering outfit. It’s designed for melee combat where you jump into the swarm of enemies and smash things up like the Hulk. In exchange for heavy armor, its mobility is compromised. It does have one fast travel option: the ability to do a short burst thrust, which allows for quick horizontal movement, smashing enemies along the way. Both its primary and secondary attacks are short range, though its spread cannon can be effective at mid-range crowd control.
Goliath has the ability to lay down barricades to block enemy progress, or funnel them into traps or other dangers. Thanks to its imposing command of the battlefield, it’s able to rally troops around it to fight more fiercely.
If you love carving your way through a swarm of enemies, this is the exo-suit you want. And we'll throw in some free floor mats, and bumper guards!
Stay tuned for an update on another exo-suit soon!
SUPPORTING THE INDIES ON KICKSTARTER
Comic Conquest is a party-based tactical RPG where players battle through the halls of a comic con gone wrong, defeating enemies and collecting swag along the way. The game is an irreverent and light-hearted take on the awesomeness of comic cons. Get it? "Con Quest"? This idea is so brilliant.
Special thanks to:
A special thanks to good friends Mark Jacob & his crew at City State Entertainment, as well as Brian Fargo & his crew at InXile for their Kickstarter support. Both of them already have hugely successful Kickstarter campaigns and they have amazing games in development. I highly recommend checking out Camelot Unchained if you love classic MMORPGs, and Wasteland 2 if you like your RPGs flavored more with post apocalyptic wickedness. These guys are redefining what it means to be indie, building AAA games the way gamers want it!
