A New Magazine for a New World
Super Flash Fiction is a free E-magazine dedicated to bringing you fantastic flash fiction and awesome action art. It is a new publication and the first issue will be out in October of 2012. Each issue will contain stories about extraordinary individuals in a modern day earth environment. These individuals will range from super powered heroes and high tech vigilantes, to magical mystics and beyond. There are no limits to what you may find in our pages.
Why We Need Your Help
Right now if you go to our website SuperFlashFiction.com you will see that we are asking writers and artist to submit their works for free. The only thing they get out of publishing with us is publishing credits and a bio in our magazine and website. We want to pay our contributors. They are providing us with excellent work and they deserve to be paid for it.
It was always our intention to become a paying magazine after we built an audience and learned how to solicit advertisements for funding, but due to the fact that we are not paying we have not had the response from artist and writers we would like. Don't get me wrong, some of the submissions we have gotten have been great and we are excited to publish them, we would just like to see more come in. I have spoken to a lot of people in the industry and I know that once we start paying our writers and artist we are going to have a truly amazing magazine from launch, as opposed to the alternative of slowly building a following in hopes of someday paying the awesome folks whose work we publish.
The truth is a lot of great magazines fall apart because they do not have the funding to make it through the first year.

$7,000 and how it will help.
$1,125 per issue times four issues will equal $4,500. This money will be paid directly to our writers and artist.
Writers will be paid $25 per story for 300 to 500 words. This is between 5 and 9 cents per word which qualifies our pay as professional under Duotrope's pay standards. All of our stories will be original, unpublished and creator owned.
Artist will be paid around $50 per page of art. This price may fluctuate depending on the detail and coloring involved. A pencil sketch would reasonably cost less than an inked and colored page. We may publish art that has been previously published as long as the artist owns all rights to it. Artist will retain the rights and originals to any work they submit or we commission for our magazine. This gives them the ability to sell their work for more money, sell prints of their work and it helps us to afford them.
We will pay between $100 and $150 per cover. I am designing the cover to issue #1 thus giving myself the right to offer prints of said cover as a Kickstarter reward.
$2500 will be used to pay for the T-shirts, Prints, Shipping and Handling, and the operation fees to Kickstarter for letting us use their awesome crowd funding platform and Amazon for payment fees. Any money left out of the $2500 (there will not be much if any) will be reinvested in stories and art for the magazine.
Thank you for your support.
This is a Sample Issue
We created this to give our subscribers and contributors an idea of the type of format we will be publishing in. It also works to give our backers an idea of how we will be E-published. This is a bare bones sample and does not contain any art. All of the stories here are written by John B Badd, who will be writing most or all of the Backers' Stories for that reward tier.
