Johanna writes songs, Denise draws them. Limited edition prints and music made especially for people just like you.
Who: Denise draws pictures of narwhals stuck in trees and billy goats standing around in their underwear. Johanna writes songs about 5-to-7-foot tall giants and glass bottles with typewritten messages floating in the ocean. They really like each other's stuff.
What: Johanna recently finished recording her second album, Electric Tide, and asked Denise to illustrate it. Her first attempt was so successful (Denise won a Los Angeles Society of Illustrators award for the cover art), that they decided to keep going. Denise drew her heart out, and came up with some truly rockin' illustrations that make everyone who sees them say "Oooh!" - in a good way.
Why: We want you to say "Oooh!" in a good way too, so we're offering up a limited edition pressing of the CD along with prints of Denise's work through Kickstarter. Your donation helps us print the CD and artwork.
Fact: The album is done - recorded in Breaux Bridge and Lafayette, Louisiana last summer and produced by Glenn Patscha (Olabelle, Ryan Adams) and Dirk Powell (Joan Baez, Jack White) and mixed by Tom Schick (Wilco, Rufus Wainwright). People seem to really, really like it and, for the time being, you can only get it through Kickstarter and at live shows.
Fact: It's all very special in a limited-edition-sort-of-way. We're offering very cool postcard sets, pre-release CDs, cover art posters and signed, numbered giclée prints. We'd really like you to get your hands on them before we run out.
Fact: We like you already. Thank you for reading this far down the page and for helping us get our work out into the big wide world.
