Bea, Haunted is a genre-bending graphic novel that follows the story of a young woman named Bea. The story flows between a coming of age drama as Bea attempts to course-correct her wayward life and a paranormal thriller while she deals with her newfound ghostly followers.
Bea struggles to find her place in the world, feeling stuck in her job and longs to find an escape towards something better. In particular she strives towards follower her dream of being a performer on stage.
Things start to get strange for Bea when she suddenly finds she is being haunted by a ghost. This realization quickly changes a lot of things for Bea, both positively and negatively. Bea somehow finds a way to flourish under the eyes of her newfound audience and finally begins making serious progress towards achieving her dreams. Consequences eventually rear their ugly heads, however, and Bea is forced to confront the decisions she makes while perusing her desires perhaps too passionately.
The titular character of the book is Beatrice Florence Bisette; Bea. A quiet and introverted person, Bea is at her most comfortable when she is at home with a cup of tea and a good book. She is at her happiest, though, when she is on stage performing for an audience.
When the book begins Bea is working at a cafe and attending every audition she can in hopes of landing a part in a stage play. Progress has been slow, though, and Bea is struggling with feelings of frustration and inadequacy as a result of her failures.
As the story progresses and Bea delves deeper into her mysterious haunting she discovers new truths about herself that allow her to progress and gain ground towards her career goals.
Carmella is introduced into Bea's life around the time she discovers her haunting and is eager to provide some insight and clarity. Carmella guides Bea towards understanding her new found followers but her motivations and goals are left a mystery.
Carmella runs a small tattoo shop in the city and eventually shows Bea the mysterious link between her haunting and tattoos. Carmella makes Bea several tempting offers in regards to her haunting but remains cryptic about the origin and price of these deals.
Unlike Joey and Tuna's previous projects Bea, Haunted will be produced and printed in full colour. This significantly increases both the production and printing cost of the book, but Joey and Tuna believe it will ultimately create a much greater product in the end.
The funding of Bea, Haunted will be broken down into four main categories:
Production - $9000
Printing - $6000
Rewards - $1750
Shipping - $1750
Kickstarter & Credit Card fees - $2000

Tuna and Joey first worked together in 2014 on the short comic series Find the Sky. They found an immediate chemistry in their collaboration and have been working together ever since.
Tuna and Joey's previous graphic novel, Good Spirits, was successfully funded via Kickstarter in October of 2016. The project went incredibly well and the two are happy to be back on Kickstarter to fund Bea, Haunted.
Risks and challenges
Joey and Tuna have been creating comic together for years and are well prepared to undertake this project. This project will be their largest to date and will introduce new challenges, such as printing in a larger size and printing in colour. Joey and Tuna believe that a fulfillment date of October 2019 will provide enough time to complete the project and deliver all rewards, however they are aware that sometimes unpredictable events can cause delays. They plan to provide regular updates in regards to the process to keep every backer informed on the state of the project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
