Just saw a Kickstarter ad with your pack in it and it really appears he's wearing the blue backpack. Yes, I do realize how many days are left and I'm confident we're going to get to the blue pack... but just in case we don't I wanted to let you know my possible plans if I only have 2 color choices. It's all in good fun nothing that will change lives :-)

    2. Baron Fig 3 proyectos propios May 22

@Kevin - Glad you like the Blue! We're definitely working towards it. :)

      @Matthew - We feel you!

@ Tyler - Good Q. At this point we're focusing stretch goals on the primary products.

@Michael - There's still over two weeks to go. ;)

    3. Michael Swertinski May 21

I have to say I'm strongly thinking that if we don't get to 100k and the blue color is dropped I may drop my pledge the day before it ends. I hate doing that, but seeing the blue color the red and grey do nothing for me. I still have 14 days to find another pack. I hope it won't come to this.

      Matthew May 21

Good question @tyler I hope so! If it's confirmed I'll up my pledge because I love that colour

    5. Tyler Blacquiere May 20

If the project reaches the 100k mark, will there be a matching blue squire to go with the blue bags?

October can't come soon enough now!

Thanks and please please please - make the Blue - the hue is absolutely beautiful! I am not sure whether everyone realise how much emotion and identity is carried by these colours. The tonal quality of the colours have a major impact on how we relate to them. I am really hoping that you would make the blue available even if you are slightly short of the stretch goal. And I will demonstrate my support by increasing my pledge! :-)

    8. Baron Fig 3 proyectos propios May 17

@Tierney - Thanks for the feedback, glad you like the project! That's a cool idea, and definitely something to think about for the future. :D

@Michael - Right on, thanks for the props! You can add a tote in two ways: 1) Use the Add-On method and simply add the value to your pledge, or 2) your wife can create her own account. Hope that helps!

@Kevin - Major thanks for the kind words. Thank you for being a customer during the past few years, it means a lot to every single one of us here at Baron Fig. You guys keep us pushing forward. I'm glad the work we're doing and the heart we're putting into it is translating well to how we present the company and our goods. That's something that we truly value: creating products and a narrative that we believe in and can be proud of.

@Kevin pt. 2 - To answer your question, you can use the Add-On method to add more Squires to your pledge. Including Add-Ons in your pledge is straightforward: Simply add the price of any Add-On item to your total pledge. For example, if you got the Backpack Starter Bundle for $149 and you want an extra Squire, just add $45 to your pledge for a total of $194. After the campaign is over we’ll send a survey so you can claim your Add-Ons. That’s it!

@Everyone - We're working on getting more photos!

Hey Joey, I was one of your fans from Hong Kong who bought the Confidant flagship, the cover, the archer and the Work/play II, I also wrote in with an image of a hand written note to you and your team using the Archer and the Confidant. Let me just say that I really resonate with the value and beliefs articulated with your product design, they are thoughtful and specific for a purpose. I am a thinker and I feel you guys are doing this just for me! When you combine the thoughtfulness, passion and a great minimalist view - you have stunning design that feels like everything should have always been like that. Following the natural human movement and habits that we have evolved with the modern world. I just want to say how great a job you guys are continuously doing and just seeing you do yours is inspiring me to do mine. Thank you. Baron Fig. Discipline and impulse.

Question - I just backed the $179 bundle and checked out but realised that I want to also get the silver/charcoal Squire at the same time you ship my bags to save on shipping. Is there a way for me to order Squire now (the pair) and bundle it together with the Bags delivery? I am hoping that given the relatively light weight of the two pen there should be minimal or no additional charge for the shipping of the whole lot? Please advise.

      Kevin

In the description of the tote it says it has 2 large back pockets but in the diagram it doesn't show this. Any way we could get more pics of the bags themselves?

I'm really excited for these bags. Is it possible to make an add-on donation to receive the Vanguard notebooks in Plus size?

    12. Michael Hodgman May 12

Love these bags! Great designs and I love your philosophy. I am an early bird backer on the messenger bag, but my wife wants the tote after I showed her this. Can I add the Tote to mine or should she just create her own account?

@Maximiliano Campos , thanks for the pointers; those products are getting great reviews on Amazon. Let's hope Baron Fig not only adds sternum straps and/or something like the web dominator, but also that the Baron Fig integrated versions (may they materialise!) are as good as these two products :-).

    14. Tierney O'Dea May 8

I would have been sooooo excited and sung from the rooftops of the messenger opened flat like the backpack. That's an awesome feature, and I really miss my old Land's End Square rigger. Just an idea for a future product!

Ditto on the sternum strap. I carry a minimal backpack now, and it's not meant to get heavy. But the sternum strap still helps relive some weight off my back and make it more secure while running for a plane or whatever.

Thanks for the new bags !

    15. Sebastián Rojas May 8

      HI,

      I just have two questions:

      1) How would one clean the backpack? Is it machine washable?

      2) What kind of warranty will you provide for these products?

      Thanks.

    16. Falta avatar

      Maximiliano Campos May 5

@Martin Olivier, You can use something called a sternum strap for the chest in order to keep the backpack straps together and from slipping as well as for support. They are cheap on ebay and a company called Bucklegear makes great sternum straps of great quality. Also, for strap management you can by ITW Web Dominator's product for very cheap. I paid 5 dollars for 10 of them. But I do agree if the bag came with an integrated sternum strap or web dominator it would be pretty sweet. =) Just giving you (Martin) some solutions for your questions!

Great minimalist design! I MUST get the backpack, hopefully in the stretch goal color!
By the way it would be great if we can choose limited edition notebooks etc. as add-ons... (It must be difficult with limited numbers produced, of course. Just suggesting.)

I've been using a flat canvas backpack since the mid-90s - especially when travelling. However, that bag is beginning to fail, but it seems you are providing my solution.

      Some questions/suggestions:
      a) On my old bag the shoulder straps were set too far apart and tended to quite easily slip off one shoulder. It seems your design will avoid this, but with the old bag I often wished I could somehow connect the straps in front, to prevent them from "spreading" apart. (Most high end camera and hiking bags have something like that, but a simple cord may suffice for the Baron Fig bag, since it will not be used to carry the same weight as camera and hiking bags.) Any possibility to add somthing like this?

      b) When carrying the older bag using the top handle, the straps (especially the adjustment straps) tended to dangle below the bag, and it was quite easy to step on them (and even trip). More annoingly, chairs at coffee shops, tended to end up on those straps, and lifting the bag on many cases resulted in a jolt. Do you have any plans for "strap management"? My one bigger bag has a sheet of thin canvas that can zip into place over the straps or be rolled up and held in place with velcro. There may well be simpler solutions if this could be a problem with the Baron Fig bag.

      c) I want to support the calls by others for a small side-handle. I also support the requests that the zippers should get somewhat larger grips - so that one can, for example, open and close the major pockets while wearing gloves

And then a question or two:

      d) I used the old bag sometimes to carry a bulky item, such as a biggish DSLR or even a jacket. It was never ideal, but it was possible. Have you tried sticking a DSLR or sweater into it? Will it work for occasional such uses?

      e) I assume the bag will be relatively easy to clean, if necessary. Correct?

      f) A number of recent bags use bright colours on the inside because (they claim) it makes it easier to find small items in a brightly covered bag. (See Lowepro, for example.) Have you considered this option?

      g) Although I have not (yet) backed a messenger bag as well, I wonder if there is any anti-slip pad (or equivalent) in its shoulder strap.

      h) On occasion I had to carry a backpack and messenger bag at the same time, and it never worked satisfactorily. Is it possible to make the backpack and messenger bag compatible for simultaneous use? (Maybe I'm now wishing for the impossible.)

I'm looking forward to get the bag I backed; if none of the above is possible, it will still work at least as well as my beloved old bag that went to bag heaven about a month ago...

Sorry about the long post, but I am obviously excited about this project.

I've been followong this project since it started but only now just pledged. All three bags looked so good couldn't decide which to get. Finally went for the messenger starter bundle with extra for a sheath. Keep up the good work, I've been loving your products so far.

@Gabrielle - Great Q! The Swing Pocket opening is 6", and the interior is 6x8"—it's a lot of space!

@Maximiliano - Happy to help—and thank you for backing the project! The Backpack is 17x11x4", has a 15L capacity, and weighs 2.4lbs. The Messenger is 15x12x4", has a 15L capacity, and weighs 2.4lbs. The Tote is 14x11x4.5", has a 15L capacity, and weighs 1lb. All three are available in a neutral Charcoal and a unisex Fig Wine. The Add-Ons are a little complicated, but we made them as clear as we possibly could. Until Kickstarter integrates Add-On functionality this is the best we have! You can add another backpack to your pledge for $90—check out the Add-Ons menu towards the bottom of the campaign page for the full list. Hope that helps! Thanks again for backing the project!

@Baron Fig: Backed for all three bags. I am a blind male from Boston MA and i wanted to know if you could give me the specs in written form either here or private messages for each bag and which colors are available for each? Also, I am tryign to understand the add ons and what each is and what is available? Looking forward to using the bags for different activities and only read great reviews online of your products so am glad to have backed. Thank you so much in advance for the help and for your time.

And as always, give us a shout if you're in New York City!

    31. Massimo Barsotti May 3

@Baron Fig - thanks for the additional info, Messenger sounds great for my use. Let me share why I backed up so quickly your project: two (maybe three) years ago I bought my first Confidant notebook. I didn't use it immediately, so only after a couple of months I opened the box and found a minor defect in the front cover. I wrote you about the issue, and, without any hesitation, you immediately sent me a new one, free of charge, non questions, nothing. You even invited me to visit your studio when in NY (I'm from Milan, Italy). I used the new notebook, then the first one too, as I could live with the cover defect but I couldn't miss the paper and the layout. Today, when thinking what to do about this new project, reminding me that exceptional experience dissipated any doubt and made it naturally to put my contribution. Again, good luck!

@Massimo - Thanks for the feedback, glad you're enjoying the Messenger's design. The Messenger has a full compartment, plus large, medium, and small pockets along the inside of the front wall. You'll be able to store notebooks, your phone, keys, pens and pencils, etc. Hope that helps!

Hello, just backed one tote bag. Always wanted to get a tote. Is the tote able to fit A3 (297 X 420mm or 11.7 x 16.5 in )paper size? What is the dimension of the tote bag or what is the internal clear of the tote bag.. please advice. Thank you very much!

Love all my Baron Figs products thus far! Got hooked when I backed the Kickstarter for the Squire pen and now own and use the full range of products from the notebooks to the Archer pencil. I can't say enough of the simple but reliable design of your products. I'm so excited for the minimalist design of this tote! Perhaps the next Kickstarter should be for a sleek pen/pencil bag to match? I'd be onboard in a heartbeat!

    40. Massimo Barsotti May 3

Just backed one Messenger bag, love the minimalistic design, I'm already an happy user of Confidant notebooks. Would have loved more info on the interior of Messenger, in particular about pockets and compartments - could you share something?
Good luck with this campaign and keep doing an amazing job!

    41. Stefanie May May 2

I'm so happy to see Fig Wine as a color option! That's my favorite color. Now if only we could get notebooks to match... :)

I'm snagging the backpack, since the interior is the most interesting of the bunch. I would've love to have seen a solution for a water bottle and I do wonder if the quick access zippers on the exterior are too minimal. They seem hard to grab, zip/unzip quickly and/or easily. Guess we'll find out!

Good luck with the campaign! It's exciting to see how much your lineup has expanded.

@Carl - Thank you for backing the Squire! Glad you like the Confidant. Both are a huge component of who we are as a company, we're happy to hear they're serving you well. Add-Ons are a bit clunky at the moment, but until Kickstarter integrates Add-On functionality this is the best we have! We'll make sure the survey process is as painless as possible, likely using a service such as BakerKit or something similar. Hope that helps!

Digging the bags BF, backed the Messenger bag first, then changed it to the backpack. I had backed the Squire and own several Confidant notebooks that I use as my personal journal as well as a work notebook. And I have gifted several Confidant notebooks to people. One suggestion: maybe use BackerKit for addons instead of adding additional funding on to a pledge?
