Shortly after the release of the debut Covenhoven record, I began looking for a meaningful way to mark the start of the next one. A singular experience to find focus... a time and place... and I found it in the canyon country of Utah, just as the fall season began to turn. I spent 5 days alone writing music, immersed in the silence and beauty of this landscape, and returned with many of the songs that will now be released as the second Covenhoven record. I've always loved the desert and canyon country of the American southwest, having spent much time there... in fact, some of my most enduring memories are the indelible marks left by the days and nights spent wandering these vast landscapes. In a way, it feels like an extension of the first record, again centered on wilderness and solitude, but with a new setting. For me, writing music is a process that needs time and space... and fuel... so this was the perfect place to begin dreaming up Covenhoven II.

And here is a preview of See You in the Spring:
It has been an amazing year following the release of the debut record. It's made its way across the U.S. and overseas. The songs are nearing 50,000 online streams on Spotify. I've traveled twice to Los Angeles to play the legendary Hotel Cafe, across the Atlantic to play for the lovely people of Ireland, and here at home we were honored to play the world famous Red Rocks Amphitheater this past summer, followed by our very first SOLD OUT show here in my home town of Denver, CO releasing the debut record on VINYL (also a first). None of this would have happened were it not for the lovely people that backed me and helped release the first record... (you know who you are - THANK YOU!)
Much like on the first record, I'll be self-producing the music and doing most of the recording and performing on my own (I recently made a solo trip up to Covenhoven to do just that), but with one key embellishment: a much broader use of a large string section. I want to expand on the symphonic aspects and cinematic aesthetic of my music. This will require hiring the many musicians to perform the arrangements and booking studio time to track them. Additionally, the funds will cover the very necessary expense of mixing and mastering, and the first vinyl pressing, so that it can be made available at the time of release or shortly thereafter. Finally, if there are funds left over, they will serve as a small promotional budget to help boost awareness of the record nationally and internationally.

Risks and challenges
If I am able to reach my goal, I have a plan that I will then carry out to get the record finished, and have many "plan B's" if necessary. One way or another I'll get this record done and out to the public. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
