Trace The Grace By: Jacquelyn Nicole Davis
Hi! My name is Jacquelyn Davis and I’m twenty- five years old. I live in Birmingham, Alabama and I am so very grateful you have chosen to click on this campaign.
Please help me share my story with the world. I am in the fight for my life and I am not alone. I want to encourage and inspire others to keep going.
I am running a Kickstarter to cover the costs of printing, distributing, and most aspects of running one successful campaign for a book I have just written. It is called Trace the Grace. The memoir is about my emotional journey and perseverance navigating the waters of a “mystery illness” for over a decade.
Trace the Grace is also about the rocky road I took before turning to my faith to sustain me when my body began to fail.
I became sick at the tender age of fifteen years old. From the day I was stuck in bed, I picked up a pen and started writing and singing.
My goal is pretty simple, I want to help other people know they are not alone in any life altering crisis or struggle. Please help me get that message out. I want everyone hurting to know they are not alone. You are part of a bigger family. Humanity.
You can live.
This book is also for the anyone who has felt out of place.
At age twenty- two, I was finally diagnosed with a Limbic Encephalopathy that has made the most sense so far. I have struggled with feeling the loneliness of being a young adult with chronic illness. I share that in Trace The Grace.
At twenty – four, I was given the harrowing news that the disease had turned paraneoplastic or in my case, pre-cancerous. Antibodies attack my body as if I have cancer. Only time will tell if I have cancer or if my disease is strictly autoimmune. My insurance has decided to reject my treatment, which in part, has brought me to Kickstarter. With all of our current funds tied up in my battle for treatment, I would like my book to be in as any hands as possible.
So what is in the book?
Trace the Grace covers what it's like to live with the unknown of a chronic illness as a teen/young adult.
The book deals with real universal coming of age issues like:
- first love
- emotional, physical, and mental health
- trusting in God
- body image
- persevering through the storm
- finding the grace in your own life.
It is written in a diary format. The ebook and special hardcover editions will have personal sketches and drawings from yours, truly.
Who is the Audience for the book?
Obviously, I think young adults with a chronic illness will feel comforted knowing they are not alone in their fight to be heard. Caretakers wanting to learn more about the mechanics of who they are caring for will gain insight. But Trace The Grace is ultimately dedicated to anyone who has ever felt lost or forgotten at any point in time in their life. Anyone who has ever felt on a blind path in their quest for the great calling in their life and any person willing read a memoir and reap perspective about another world will enjoy this book.
When will the book be ready?
