Exciting book-related stuff happening in September

A few upcoming things related to the book:

- In mid-September, I'm presenting a learning from mistakes webinar to a group of project managers at Cisco (thanks Chris for setting this up). As part of that, I'm developing a workbook that takes some of the ideas in the book and organizes them for leaders and workgroups to use.

I'd like to find a couple of friendly readers to look at early drafts and provide comments. It's short - 15 pages or so - and if you're interested in providing feedback on it, let me know. I'd appreciate it.

- A bit later in September, I'll be at the 99u Pop-up school doing some speed coaching and talking about the book.

Please keep talking about the book and write an Amazon review if you can (link here:

A "bestseller"!

Hi, all,

The big news of last week was a two-day free promotion for the Kindle version of the book, which resulted in "The Mistake Bank" placing as high as #5 on the Business/Management & Leadership Top Free list. More than 400 copies were ordered through this promotion - not Kanye numbers but meaningful to me.

I'm already thinking about what area to take on next. I've got my eye on some tools and expanded content around Chapter 4, the "culture" chapter.

What do you think I should work on next?

regards, John

PS, a reminder to post an Amazon review if you wish to. Here's the link:

Books are out

Hi, all,

I've sent books to everyone I had addresses for (or that I don't expect to see in person soon).

A couple of folks haven't provided postal addresses - I reached out to you by email. Please get me your address so you can get your books.

All the above being said, my shipping department is not immune from mistakes ;). So please let me know if you were expecting books and haven't received them by the end of the week.

To let friends know how to get the book, here's the link to purchase it on Amazon:

Bulk discounts are available on the paperback book. Message me or email for more info.

Finally, a reminder to share your view of the book on Amazon if you can. Here's the link:

Thanks and regards, John

Books still being shipped

Hi, all,

Past the halfway mark in shipping books. Please let me know your address if you are due a hardcopy book and haven't sent that info in yet. I expect to be done in the next week or two at the latest.

In other news... if you know anyone in the Central PA area who wants a hardcopy, they are in the local section of the Midtown Scholar bookstore in Harrisburg. Hardcopies are also available at Amazon.

And if you've had a chance to read the book, it would be a great favor if you leave a review at Amazon - they greatly increase the book's prominence to people browsing the site. Here's the link to leave a review:

Many thanks!

Books are making their way out there

Hi, all,

I've been sending out books for the past week or so and have covered, by my estimate, more than half the backers so far. If you haven't received your book(s) yet, stay patient. We are working as fast as the shipping department can handle. I'm on the road next week, meaning there won't be any more shipments till next Friday.

If you pledged $15 or more and haven't filled in the backer's survey yet, please do so. That gives me your address so I can get your books in the mail to you.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. And, if you've had a chance to read the book in e-book or paper format, please consider writing an Amazon review:

Many thanks!
