Dear all,
I'm raising money to produce several music videos of songs off the new mixtape I'm dropping called Upper East Beast. I'm hoping to create some really awesome content that will take my videos up about 20 notches. Making this mixtape has been a very, very long process and it means a lot to me. These music videos will be at the head of the marketing and promotional campaign that I'm going to be doing over the next 3-6 months so they will really help get the word and my music out there.
You can check out the streaming sneak peek version of the tape here: http://www.uppereastbeast.com. The videos I'm looking to make are "Year of the Rat", "In the Jungle" and "You Ain't a Kila". We've already done some rough budget estimates, and even after this Kickstarter money is raised I'll be putting in more of my own money to cover the rest of the expenses.
Currently the average budget of a video I make is $200. This basically covers the cost of food and transportation for a day and assumes that the equipment being used is free. With these new videos we are looking at an average budget of $1500 - $2000 per video. To make a video that is not just me walking around on the street (as cool/fun as that is), there are expenses like hiring a crew, renting equipment, casting, getting locations, props, etc. which all add up in the end.
Check out the rewards on the right hand side of this page and if you have ideas for more rewards, feel free to tell me.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you everyone who has ever listened to any of my songs or supported me in anything I've ever done. As the saying goes, "You will always be my homie, because you always were my homie."
Cheers,
Jay
