This is a one-of-a-kind video game for the iPhone and Android devices that combines everything I've learned (and love) about surfing into a fun and simple video game. Unlike a fancy-graphics big production hit, it's a clean and easy to play game that gives everyone a chance to get out in the surf and ride a wave (figuratively speaking of course). The game has just the right mix of realism, control, and challenge to make it really fun and addictive.

Current State of Development
The game is currently in the demo stage with the first level completed and a single type of surfboard to ride. I want to take it to the next level (literally) by adding different types of surf breaks and surfboards, and tying it all together with a storyline. The first level is a beach break and the surfboard you ride on is a mini-Malibu fun-board (a good beginner board). I want to add 2 other types of boards: the islander classic longboard and the more advanced short board. Both provide very different riding experiences and will add depth to the game. I also want to add different levels to offer the user a chance to ride on the various types of surf breaks that occur around the world. There's even rumor of a Pororoca tidal bore secret level!
Why I'm doing this?
When I moved to Australia and became a dad, I realized life is not all about moving up the corporate ladder. This prompted me to quit the big-company grind and start pursuing my own ideas. It's something I've always had a talent for and have been passionate about, and now is my chance to make it happen. In fact, I've already succeeded by producing this demo and launching a kickstarter project. All along the way I've enjoyed the work, it's original, and I'm proud of it.
I learned an enormous amount while working my corporate job and acquired some powerful skills and experience. This is one reason I'm so confident about bringing Kahuna Surfer to the market. I've worked on very large and complicated projects and know how to effectively deliver on project goals. This is about applying those skills and talents to something that is much more fun. It's not easy, but it's something I love doing, so that makes it worth the effort. Come join me in the experience and hear my story by becoming a backer today.
Risks and challenges
As with any software development, there will be many glitches that reveal themselves during testing. We call these "bugs". It then becomes a race to get these fixed and make the game run smoothly. I'm especially focused on watching the performance of the game since it will be running on mobile devices.
I have a combined +10 years experience working on projects just like this, specifically the last 6 years at Accenture. I'm always up for a challenge and will find solutions to problems we encounter.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
