This project's funding goal was not reached on December 18, 2011.
About this project
hashihashi needs you.
- I love sushi. I love good sushi. There are a lot of sushi places; I'd like to go to the good ones.
- I'm no expert at eating sushi. I don't remember the names of all the fish, and I don't know all of the proper etiquette. But I'd like to learn, and I'd like to share what I do know.
- I'm worried about the future of sushi. At the rate we're eating sushi, there may not be anymore left soon. And I always want to be able to enjoy sushi. So, I'd like to make sustainable choices, and I'd like to pick sustainable sushi places.
I wanted all of this so much, that I decided to make an app for that. That app is called hashihashi. I have designs, but I'm not a developer. There's a lot of work to be done.
If you also want to learn and share sushi knowledge, and you also want to find great sushi places, and you also care about sushi sustainability, then I'd love your help! By funding hashihashi, you'll help me get this thing built. You'll help me make eating sushi educational & fun. You'll also be the first to get news & updates. And you'll be a part of something exciting!
The guide book
Part of the application will include a sushi guide book, which will be an illustrated manual on how to eat sushi. This guide book will have an autographed, limited-edition print version, offered exclusively to Kickstarter backers that back the project by $320 or more. A PDF version will be given to those who back $80 or more.
Sections will include:
- Choosing a Restaurant
More will be added over time.
About the video
This video was designed in Keynote, and the music was created in GarageBand. The font used is Peregroy. Soon I'll replace the video with a nicer video. :)
Take the survey
I have a lot of features in mind that I'm really excited about which I'll update backers on throughout my progress. I'd like to hear from you, so I can make sure I prioritize the features appropriately. If you have the time, please take my survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/hashihashi
Starting out, it will be a mobile web application, which technically can be accessed on both platforms, but the user experience focus will be on the iPhone (and some parts will be accessible via the desktop). As hashihashi gets further into development, other platforms will be targeted, and we'll move from being solely a web application to having native elements.
There will be a lot of work put into the content and illustrations (both on my part as well as the authors/artists I get to help me out) and I'd like to be able to compensate the people that contribute to the sushi guide. I will also be spending a lot of time laying the book out so that it's beautiful. If you're getting the print edition, printing costs will come into play as well. Finally, instead of looking at it as buying a book, consider the other rewards you'll get alongside it as well, and that you are backing my dream; the rewards are a way of saying thank you.
