QUALITY, SUSTAINABILITY, AND FARMING OF OUR ALOE
CONCERN FOR ALOE LATEX & THE ACTIValoe® DIFFERENCE
CLINICAL STUDIES & BENEFITS OF ACTIValoe® IN DETOX WATER
ALL ALOE IS NOT CREATED EQUAL
By this, we mean that the pure aloe you’re buying on the market might not be as effective as nature intended it to be. The QMatrix ACTIValoe® patented process ensures our products’ efficacy and superior potency. Get to know the difference – we’re not like the rest.
Detox Water harnesses the natural cleansing properties of aloe vera in a drink that delivers the antioxidant, anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, immune-stimulating and gastro-protective benefits for which aloe vera is well known.

THE PLANT OF IMMORTALITY
The silent healer. The desert lily. The elixir of Jerusalem. The plant of immortality. Those are just a few of the titles aloe has received over the years around the world. Aloe has been used as herbal medicine dating as far back as 5,000 years to ancient Egyptian times. With today’s technology, we can better understand its healing powers.
FARMING & SUSTAINABILITY
Aloe is a renewable resource. Farmers handpick and cut a few aloe leaves from each plant to allow restoration of the plant. From the farm to the bottle, we’ve lowered our carbon footprint by sourcing and packaging everything in America. Detox Water is made locally.
HOW IT ALL STARTED
We’ve been working with aloe since 2012, when we brought our first aloe drink to market. Along the way, we’ve learned a lot about the beverage industry in general and health beverages in particular. Now we’re taking that experience and using it to launch a truly healthy, delicious beverage with mass appeal. Aloe can be tricky to work with. Our first product, Superleaf Aloe Juice, taught us about some of the challenges. Aloe is naturally bitter, and needs some sweetening to be palatable. Beverages also need to maintain a low PH level to be shelf stable. In order to balance the acidity and bitterness, we used organic cane sugar and honey in our previous product.
After listening to feedback from our customers and many grocery buyers, we knew there was demand for a healthier product without sugar that didn’t sacrifice taste. We redeveloped Superleaf from the ground up to create Detox Water. We tested over 30 different flavors and combinations to create our Original flavor: White Grape + Lychee. It’s delicious, refreshing, under 40 calories per bottle, and lightly sweetened with organic agave (8 grams of sugar or less).
THE STRETCH & LINE EXTENSION
In addition to our original flavor, we plan to bring out two additional flavors to the Detox Water product line: Coconut Water, made with pure, non-concentrated coconut water, and Matcha Green Tea, made with real Matcha green tea infusion. This is where we need your help. It will cost us $20,000 to launch each additional flavor, and we are looking for your support to make it happen. We know everyone's got a favorite so we're letting our exclusive backers to decide and help out with the product development process.
NO MORE HEAVY GROCERY LIFTING
We live in NYC, where grocery shopping is a major challenge. As city dwellers, we have come to truly appreciate the convenience of online shopping. To provide our customers with the highest level of service, we will deliver Superleaf Detox Water to your door via our website, with no charge for shipping. That’s something traditional beverage companies don’t generally do, but it makes our product convenient, accessible, and shows our customers our appreciation for their support.
Risks and challenges
MANUFACTURING PROCESS: Although we are scheduled to bottle and be ready to ship by August, 2014, there is always the risk of experiencing longer lead times and delayed production schedules. Each bottling facility has differing capabilities when it comes to producing beverages – because of this, our formula and packaging is subject to minor adjustments before shipping our final product out to the public. We promise to keep our backers updated and be completely transparent throughout the manufacturing process.
MINIMUM ORDER REQUIREMENTS: Bringing Superleaf to market at an affordable price point requires significant capital investment. The primary use of the funds obtained from our campaign will fulfill our first production run of Detox Water. We hope to raise enough capital to create and produce 2 other great tasting, refreshing flavors.
CONSUMER EDUCATION: Brands suffer or prosper based on the consistency of their ingredients. The polysaccharide content of aloe ingredients has been shown to vary greatly among suppliers. Consumers who have tried aloe products in the past may have been disappointed in their potency and efficacy. This is why Superleaf has chosen to partner exclusively with Aloecorp for MAP-processed Organic QMatrix ACTIValoe. It will also be important to publicize the fact that only the pure inner gel is used in Superleaf products, and not the latex substance (also known as aloin) found in the outer part of the leaf. A number of years ago, the FDA became concerned about the safety of aloe latex, which was an ingredient in many over-the-counter laxatives. While Superleaf contains only the beneficial aloe gel, and no aloe latex, there may be an education process involved to counteract any potential stigma arising from the FDA decision to ban aloe from laxatives.
BEVERAGE CERTIFICATIONS: Each new beverage product needs to be approved before slapping on each seal of approval (Ex. USDA Organic, IASC, QMatrix ACTIValoe®). We're hoping that all our paperwork is verified and approved before printing our labels. If not, we'll need to make the sacrifice and go ahead with our first production run without those certification seals.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
