We're making a full deck of 54 ultra-premium quality playing cards, portraying a certain iconic figure as various leaders of the Western world at key point in our history. The Queens, Jacks, Aces, & 10s of each suit will all be different people, but all of the kings are... You guessed it! Playing cards are printed out in sheets like you'd print out from your printer, except on large high quality cardstock with good inks. These sheets are normally sent to get cut into individual cards before they're put together into a deck, but sometimes printers run extra sheets and leave them uncut. They're cool because they're rare and collectible pieces of art you can frame and hang on your wall – another way to appreciate playing cards.
For the project to succeed, we need money to print and ship a lot of decks. Card projects usually need 1000 decks to reach funding, but our prices allow for less decks needed. We're printing only the best quality your money can get through the amazing Legends Playing Card Company, which doesn't print under 1000 decks.
Card enthusiasts: We love Legends' Classic finish. We're giving you metallic inks, hitting some limits with 6 face-side colors (standard is 4 max), which has to be run through the printer a second time, and we're working towards a high-quality tuck box. We like Golden Spike cards the most from samples we bought from Legends.
Getting official permission to use the likenesses of our guest features isn't easily reproducible, so this is sure to be very collectible item.
How are we qualified? We’re two brothers with backgrounds in design and tech. This is the first of hopefully many projects we can put directly into your hands. Card projects are relatively straightforward but we've put in extra hours to cross T's and dot I's for things like art constraints, ink types, card stock types, tuck box, seal materials, etc. and their manufacturers (we're going with Legends because they're amazing). We know what we want and how to make it happen. You can subscribe to our newsletter over at our site for frequent progress updates. We're most active on Twitter! Expect a few surprises in the near future, and the first one starts with you going to our website and clicking that seemingly out of place air horn button on the top left... Hope you pledge! Risks and challenges
We've done extensive research, work, and have the enthusiastic support and permission to use the guests who appear with Our Hero.
Art is #1 priority so we can get things printed and shipped to you! We love clean, consistent and 100% playable designs. You can see this direction for yourself in the high-res previews of cards we've revealed.
It's important to us that the final product follows very strict standards (correct one-eyed jacks and royal direction facing, etc.) so you can play any game. Other custom decks don't always follow these concrete and historically established playing card rules, at their peril. For us, only up from here!
We've meticulously calculated fair prices, and even built a calculator (see graphic above about www.gettrump.cards/calculator.html) around it to make it even easier for people who are pledging non-standard amounts.
Shipping and add-ons is where people trip up most. We've hand-picked every country and made sure that we’re fair and can support it. We’ll use BackerKit, et al. to make sure add-ons go smoothly.
