A fun deck of playing cards about the West and traditionalism. Nothing trumps history, friends or family. www.GetTrump.Cards
Über dieses Projekt
We're making a full deck of 54 quality playing cards, portraying a certain iconic figure as various leaders of the Western world (at key points in our history) - the good and the bad. The queens and jacks will all be different people, but all of the kings are... You guessed it!
Scroll down or go to our website for examples of what you can expect the cards to look like! (designs are subject to improvement)
Designed by Nick and Justin Godesky.
Following the traditionalist ideology that served as the motivation for these caricatures, our design itself captures the feeling of a traditional poker deck; distinctiveness, attention to detail, and preserving complete functionality are important to us. The United States will be great once more as you pull out a deck of Trump Playing Cards with your friends and family on a Saturday night (but don't stay up too late, you need to wake up for church in the morning!).
Buy it for a friend who might not appreciate traditional values, or have their own interpretation; watch them cringe at the very notion! Regardless, even they’ll find it hard not to enjoy.
In fact, we’re offering some enticing tiers for the most dedicated among you, who desire to pool some friends together and pitch in for an 8-pack. Imagine sitting around a table playing cards on the weekend relaxing with a 12-pack - but don't tell the government about your gambling habit! We don't judge. We'll listen to any feedback sent our way as demand calls for changes in design or process.
We need your support to flesh out the best possible design, so decks can fly through manufacturing and straight into your hands. Paper might grow on trees, but nothing is truly free! Not to mention we’ll only use the good stuff; no cronyism in our card stock! We’ve already accounted for stellar materials and presentation in our goal, but we need your help to put it over the top!
A young entrepreneur such as yourself probably noticed that first-to-market backers will score the best prices. Good investments are rewarded in a free market, and there’s no better reward than making a good deal. So what are you waiting for?
We're talking about giving you a booklet full of graphics of our cards in combinations that have been given amusing nicknames over the long, rich history of playing cards by the playing card community. These nicknames are used by both commentators and spectators of high intrigue poker matches.
We'll be choosing which combinations to display based on how relevant they are to current world affairs, politics as a whole, and the man himself. Two examples we're particularly fond of is "Donald" (a King card and a card that features 2 of any suit) and "Money Maker" (5 and 4 cards of any suit, named after the winning hand of Chris Moneymaker, the 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event champion). Each combination will also be matched with an explanation of the nicknames given to it and how they're relevant.
It's ideal for giving to a friend who maybe isn't interested in our deck (Unbelievable!) or to hold on to for yourself to learn more about the origins of some of these strange, funny nicknames. Use them in a poker game and tie them to real world current affairs to show your friends how smart you are! We won't be mad if you take full credit for those connections; you earned it. Scroll to the bottom of the page for more examples! (Current graphics do not represent how they will appear on the pamphlet; they're subject to improvement)
Playing cards are printed out in sheets like you'd print out from your printer, except on high quality card stock with good inks. These uncut sheets are normally sent to get cut into individual cards before they're put together into a deck, but sometimes printers run extra sheets and leave them uncut. Uncut sheets are cool because they're rare, collectible, and can be nice pieces of art to frame and hang on your wall. They're another way to appreciate playing cards.
Because Kickstarter doesn't let you pledge for more than one level of rewards, in order to request additional items you have to use add-ons.
To use an add-on, just add the appropriate amount to your pledge. For example: $38 pledged (+ $5 shipping for USA) for 2 decks + $20 for another deck (shipping included for USA) = $63 pledged for 3 decks, shipped.
Prices
- $20 per deck extra; requires $30 pledge (2 decks) first. Each deck comes with a booklet. (Includes shipping for USA. Add $5 per added-on deck for International)
- $42 per literal brick (includes shipping, USA only)
- $60 per uncut sheet (includes shipping)
In order for this project to succeed (and at least break even), we need the money to be able to print and ship (from press to us to you) 700+ decks. Usually the number card projects strive to hit is 1000 decks, but we've priced them to allow for a lower amount of decks needed to have a funded project. In other words, decks are priced so that if we barely succeed, we'd be making very little but customers would still be receiving something great!
We're printing only the best quality your money can get through Legends Playing Card Company.
As we approach our target, a variety of stretch goals will be unveiled.
How are we qualified to do this?
We’re two brothers with backgrounds in design and tech. This is the first of hopefully more projects we can put directly into the hands of the public.
Card printing projects are relatively straightforward but we've put in extra hours to cross t's and dot i's for things like art constraints, ink types, card stock types, tuck box and seal materials, etc. We know what we want to do and how to make it happen.
You can subscribe to our newsletter over at our site for frequent progress updates. Expect a few surprises in the near future, and the first one starts with you going to our website and clicking that seemingly out of place air horn button on the top left... We hope you pledge! You won't regret it!
Risiken und Herausforderungen
Getting assets finalized and fully polished won’t be an issue, but we’ve baked in an extra month of insurance time for delivery in our estimate, to account for potential delays in the manufacturing process.
