Raised in rural Washington state in the log house built by her parents, Jessi McNeal was surrounded by music from an early age. Her mother played piano in church, and her father played in a country band throughout most of her childhood. She often sat upstairs in her room making up her own lyrics and melodies to the sounds of her parents’ music below. She didn’t see it as songwriting at the time, but her ear for melody and love of storytelling were born within those four walls.
