First of all, what is the Camino de Santiago?
Well, here's a map.
I'm going to be walking the same route that thousands of people have been walking each year, since the mid 10th century! I'll be taking the French route, which starts in Saint Jean De Port, a city that lies about 9km from the Spanish border. 480 miles and approximately 30 days later, I'll land in Santiago de Compostela, where the remains of St. James the apostle are believed to be housed today.
Hold on! Although the route is historically religious, there are many modern pilgrims (including myself) who walk the Camino for non-religious reasons. Personally, I'm sick of materialism and multi-tasking. At 20 years old, I'm looking forward to taking a break from modern luxury for 30 days and to challenging myself. Along the way, I want to learn from people who have chosen to do the same, who knows who I'll meet. Like I say in my video, think of my project as a series of moving portraits, with one core theme.
I'm really excited to film personal shout-outs for anyone who donates $50.00 or more to my Kickstarter. Basically, I'll find a friendly pilgrim to give you a personalized "hello and thank you," and tell you a little about their story. The shout-outs will all be located in the bonus features on the DVD.
Additionally, and if I do end up inspiring anyone to walk, I'll provide personal packing, travel and planning advice if you donate $100 or more.Think of me as your personal tour guide.
Thanks so much again for checking out my Kickstarter!
And as they say, Buen Camino!
