We just hit 140 backers! Thanks so much everyone!!
Nearing up on 200%, and that's before the 48 hour reminders. Not too bad :)
@Anthony Brewer - Thanks! Yes it is a typo. It is Coral and it is correct everywhere but in the pledge level because I can't edit the pledge levels once they are pledged to. :) But it is correct on the gallery and on the card itself in the game :) Thanks for making sure!
Hi Jessica, I love your clockwork-style dragons. Very happy I wasn't too late to get one of the originals from this project. (Speaking of which -- "coarl guardian" I think is a mis-spelling of "coral"? Unless it's some gemstone I never heard of?)
My pleasure Jessica, you deserve for this to hit 500% :)
@Julie - Our main goal was to have the game be portable and affordable (and modular so you can pick just the expansions you want). Since my main fanbase are families with children who want to fit the game in their backpacks that was our initial goal.
Eventually if there is enough demand we might do an overall box that all the smaller expansion boxes fit into if folks want it. BUT lot of the serious gamers I've met at shows like to get custom wooden boxes that take sleeved cards and higher end dice for their games so we have to see what sort of demand there is for a larger overall box over the next year or two or if folks want to use wooden ones etc :) I am keeping track of all the requests like yours so we know. :)
I love the game and look forward to the expansion. The one thing I didn’t like was that the box didn’t house the rules or dice; will there be any sort of deluxe box in the future that will house everything?
@Ebonweaver - thanks so much for pushing the project on other sites! I have been doing some PR as well (so we got a bunch of new backers last night). The numbers on KickTraq are usually a bit off until they have more data as they assume the same amount of funding per day, but kickstarters usually get almost no funding during the middle 3rd of the project. We can expect a little bit of a lull this coming week and then another burst at the end. I'll be doing more updates for backers and to keep the interest going in the meantime :) We'll also be doing an in person event right after the project funding ends so I'll make sure pre-orders are up for about ten days after the project ends just in case we get folks who missed it.
Expansion is now live on BGG!
Images pending approval :)

And of course the Kicktraq shows great projections!
Remember, the more comments here, and clicks to the project page there, the more it rises in rank and gets noticed :)
Ha! I was so wrapped up in the art style I didn't notice the card style difference either :)
Shows how well I pay attention, lol. I completely missed that detail. Very nifty and useful though. (I don't think I'd ever need to separate them but it's a nice thing to have just in case.) So excited for this and the next and any future surprises. ;)
@Zay - Yes, you can very easily tell them apart. :) Look at the text box on the new cards. It is stone and has light on dark text. The base set cards all have dark text on a parchment background (and yes, the expansion planned for early 2019 will have a very different text box too). This allows you to easily separate an expansion back out if you want to :)
Looks to me as if the theme is very distinctive (Aztec/Mayan) and you could sort easily on that if nothing else?
I just had a thought. Is there any marking or indicator on these cards (front or back) that mark them as belonging to this particular expansion, in case they ever need to be separated for any reason? Like for instance, with Unstable Unicorns, they had a little colored strip along one corner of each card to let you know which expansion the card belonged to. Not necessarily a requirement but just a neat little feature. Was just curious!
@Ebon - Thanks so much! We are always happy to have more PR. I mainly was creating books (BTW the Dragon Watcher field guide and my other field guides even MATCH the game for creature rarity and names etc!) and then playing cards... but at a lot of events with families we noticed they were a little let down that we just had playing cards. So Dragon Watcher happened because we wanted a game that was fast for people to learn and join in, but that both kids and grownups (and more serious gamers) could enjoy. We DO have our next expansion in the works too... and it will be really different :)
Oh yeah, card games are on BGG too :) I just submitted this expansion for review ;) The baby dragons expansion was already there.
I just think that with the base game already done, and making it available with this expansion, not to mention all the other great points and add ons, you can get more like 500 backers on this one with a little hype engine ;)
@Ebon - I didn't even know anyone had listed it on BGG (since it's not a board game... heh). Most of my fanbase aren't BGG folks, they are families playing with their kids, but it is nice to see it listed. :) The basic concept for the game is simple to learn, but the strategy isn't as simple especially with 3 or more players. You have to consider carefully what goals to aim for, what resources to save vs use and so forth :) Usually my kickstarters are 150-200 folks, but we launched on a Monday so we are slower kicking off (I almost never do that, but since it's a holiday week we had to). My social media and mailing list is pretty big, so we should get another burst of backers at the end, no worries :)
The game is very simple, but I think it's good to have something in the collection that is quick and easy and still enjoyable and this fits the bill. The art style is really great, loving that as well. But what is really shining after that last update (and the personal response before that before I backed), is that Jessica is a top notch creator. Straight forward, honorable, engaged, super nice, taking in feedback, all the traits you could possibly ask for. We need to get this hyped up on BGG and other social media, I think this can go really far. One like on BGG is way too low! https://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/242797/dragon-watcher-card-game Getting this expansion listed on BGG will also help, and I think getting the base set contents listed out on the campaign page will be huge for people like me new to the game to know what they get. Just over two weeks left, I personally think this should have a couple hundred backers!
Gratz on funding
Looks like you are fully funded! Congrats!
back again for another piece of art. i managed to get the ruby dragon.
@Carl - Thanks for supporting Dragon Watcher! My website is artlair.com, my facebook is http://facebook.com/artlair/ and my twitter handle is JCFeinberg :)
New backer to the game. Thank you for being so responsive to my questions via pm. I love the artwork and the game looks fun too. Do you have a presence in Facebook or Twitter?
@Gina - I'll make sure larger prints of the 5 rare dragons are available on backerkit for anyone who wants them. Sorry I didn't have more originals on this project but they were all so detailed. :) I really wanted to keep the Emerald one and some of the common sheets, but I really don't have wall space to keep more paintings :)
<3 One of the reasons I love your art so much, is because I can see how much time and effort and love you put into your paintings, it's what makes them stand out so much, I think. I would love a print of the Emerald Dragon! A larger one instead of the prints would rock, because I can add-on the gold prints :) if that works for you that would rock for me! I appreciate it! <3
@Gina - Parting with the "rare" dragon paintings on this one is rough for me too - I put so much time into them! But I can always make prints (and if you want a larger print of it vs the smaller gold prints I can make those available as add-ons too).
Aww man, I went to get the Emerald Dragon, and whoever beat me, dang, I think we were getting it at the same time!! lol cause my app froze! LOL LOL LOL all good though, just thought it was funny... So excited though!! :)
