**UPDATE- 8/24/12** With less than 24 hours to go we reached our second stretch goal. You all are so amazing! Rian and I cannot begin to thank everyone enough. We said we would release our third stretch goal after we hit #2 so I have posted it down below. Thank you all for helping us reach or goal and well beyond!
**UPDATE- 8/11/12** We have reached our initial goal amount of $2,200! Thank you to everyone who has donated to the campaign or helped us spread the word about our project! Now that Broken Legacy #1 is officially going to see the light of day, Jesse and I are adding some Stretch Goals to the campaign. Scroll down a bit to get the low-down on those, and thanks again!
Broken Legacy #1 is the first issue of an action and emotion-packed fantasy comic book series written by Rian Miller with art by Jesse Munoz.
Our goal is to use Kickstarter to finally create the first 36-page black and white issue of a comic book series that Jesse and I have wanted to make a reality for almost 10 years. Jesse and I met at the Joe Kubert School in 2003 and have been trying to make Broken Legacy a reality ever since. We've exhausted several other means of getting our comic published, but we're still enthusiastic about the story we've crafted. Hence, we've decided to self-publish our first issue with the help of Kickstarter and you.
We're relying on your support to complete Broken Legacy #1 and with luck we'll be able to complete the entire series that we have planned, but it all has to start somewhere. This is that somewhere.
Tobias and Gabriel are brothers whose lives were devastated in childhood by the murder of their family and the destruction of the town in which they lived. Growing up on their own was hard, but it taught them the value of having someone close to you who you can rely on, and they've dedicated their lives to protecting others from fates similar to their own.
When another small town is ravaged years later by a sinister, power hungry man named Malacan and his gang of mercenaries, Tobias and Gabriel leap into action as they have many times over the years to protect the innocent. However, the brothers soon realize they're in over their heads when they discover that Malacan is a master of powers beyond the earthly realm and that he will stop at nothing in his search for one specific young boy.
What does Malacan want with the child for whom he searches? Will Tobias and Gabriel be able to protect the boy? What larger plans does Malacan have in store, and how do our heroes unknowingly fit into the equation?
These are the questions we aim to answer in Broken Legacy.
About The Creators:
I am a freelance artist/writer from the middle of nowhere, Maryland. My previous work includes 2 issues of a buddy cop action/comedy series titled Mercury And The Murd from PKD Media/Crime Lab Studios and the first issued of my own self-published horror/comedy/action series Man-Gull.
Jesse is a graphic and web designer from the Seattle, Washington area. He is married with a new son and daughter, and spends most of his limited free time honing his skills with a stylus and playing Magic the Gathering.
As I mentioned above, Jesse and I met at the Joe Kubert School in Dover, New Jersey in 2003. Shortly thereafter we began collaborating on an early version of Broken Legacy. In the years since, we have submitted pitches for the series to multiple publishers and had many false starts at self-publishing the book ourselves. With each new revision of the story, we feel that it has grown stronger, and both of us believe that now is the time to finally make Broken Legacy a reality.
PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO SHARE "BROKEN LEGACY ISSUE #1" WITH YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY, AND FOLLOWERS VIA TWITTER, FACEBOOK, TUMBLR, AND ANY OTHER AVENUE THAT'S CONVENIENT.
WITH YOUR HELP, "BROKEN LEGACY" CAN FINALLY MAKE IT'S LONG-AWAITED DEBUT.
Thanks for taking a few moments to check out our Kickstarter project. Feel free to follow Jesse (@JesseMunoz) and myself (@rianmiller) on Twitter for updates on the project both during and after our campaign. We also run an art blog with a few of our other fellow Kubert School classmates where you can see previews of everything we're working on at stockpilecomics.tumblr.com.
