$1 a square inch in Detroit. For real and online. Buy land, have fun. <3

Buy land, have fun, help make cool stuff happen.

The way this works is simple. For every dollar you inchvest in this project by clicking the green Back This Project button on the upper right-hand side, you'll get that many square inches of land in Detroit, Michigan, and you'll be able to log into your land online. For example, give $24 and get 24 inches, give $144 and get a square foot. So far 700 people have inchvested in 13,000 inches. That's a lot of neighbors in such a small place in such a big city! We've got a real inchventure on our hands, folks.

Right now we're transitioning from our humblest origins to LOVELAND season 2 which will see the installation of a grid on Plymouth, the first 10,000 square inch property (which you can see us starting to construct in the time-lapse video above (go here for details), a new 50,000 square inch property called Hello World (where the inches from this round will go), new online interactivity, grants for other projects in Detroit (1/2 of your inchvestment will go to 7 great projects in Detroit and the other 1/2 will go to making LOVELAND awesomer and awesomer), and an accompanying story about the construction of Bridge To Everywhere. Join the Facebook group for updates: http://facebook.com/makeloveland.

Things you should know: Your inches are not legally binding with the city of Detroit so you won't have to worry about things like paying taxes or other legal implications. The way this works is LOVELAND legally owns the property and is extending social ownership to its inchvestors. We take this very seriously at the same time as we have a lot of fun with it. You will be able to visit the property, create on your space, and follow and interact with it and your new neighbors via the website. You can also gift or sell inches to other people.

Final note: LOVELAND is entirely inchvestor funded so if you think this is cool stuff, please point your friends and communities this way! No inchvestment is too small or too large. Inches may be small, but they scale up beautifully. :)
