The history of "Revelations Chapter 4" in a Nutshell (a 4 paragraph nutshell);
Once upon a time (2000)... I created a short animated movie based on the post apocalyptic 'Tribulation period' mentioned in the book of Revelation. It was my senior thesis at Otis College of Art + Design... Flash forward many moons later (2003)... after taking a break from working in the art department at EA studios, my attention was refocused back onto my personal projects. And that same animated project from years prior reemerges as the Graphic Novel Series "Revelations: The Prophets". Several subsequent titles of that series are published and released over the course of the next 3 years or so. They reach moderate acclaim, but remain, primarily, underground and independent...
Flash forward again (2006)... Now gaining more recognition as an artist, more projects and opportunities arise. The balancing act of freelance / work-for-hire art vs. work on my personal project rages war against one another for some time... Until, finally (2007)... for all intents and purposes artwork on the next book in the Revelations series had to be halted... in lieu of being called to work on a feature animated film (Cheech + Chong) in addition to various other animated TV + film development projects as well as several music video projects... and so the next Revelations book ('Chapter 4') lay on the shelf collecting dust...
Last year (2011)... I began to pick up the pieces and dust off the 'Chapter 4' book on the shelf by doing a version 2.0 of the original animated short from 2000-2001. This time being used as a promotional tool for Book Vol I (chapters 1-3) and as an igniter to begin work on 'Chapter 4'. The animated trailer was launched at Comic-Con 2011 and lead to my solo exhibition "Mindset Vertical" [my first Kickstarter project]. With all the paintings and artwork being a re-introduction of the characters from the "Revelations" graphic novel series to the world. Now (October 2012)... The book series has begun to pick up steam yet again, but again, so has the freelance / work-for-hire art. So, this Kickstarter is my way to COMMIT to the book, story, and the fans and have a hard release date for the next book. It will be a super limited run and will be created in black + white, both to keep costs down and keep the work load in a reasonable time window that I can manage while still maintaining the deadlines with other artwork for clients that I'm already scheduled to complete.

This "Revelations" project has been an integral part of my life for well over 10 years now. I'd love to be in a position to focus on ONLY that artwork / writing alone, but that is not currently the reality for me as an artist. So, this Kickstarter is a way for you (the friends, fans, and supporters of the project) to help me get the ball rolling again. Doing and independently produced labor-of-love-project like this has a lot of uphill pushing, but lo and behold... is that the top of the hill just ahead?
Risks and challenges
I've produced, and published several graphic novels, art books, anthologies, and sketchbooks in the past. The main challenges has ALWAYS been TIME + MONEY.
Both are addressed with this Kickstarter. The funds raised will handle all of the print / production costs. And as far as time, when I'm given a deadline (within reason) I typically don't have any trouble meeting them.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
