Hi there! My name is JTA, I'm a freelance illustrator based in the crazy weird city of Austin,TX - and I'm here with what will be my very first art book!
I've been freelance illustrating for about a decade now - my most recent projects include a children's book and a political cartoon board game- I've done everything from comic convention prints to bands' album covers, to even drawing stills for a movie (well, just ONE movie, but still!) --- but I never have been able to do any personal, original art on a big scale. That's where you come in.
Aw, Hell! A Demon Art Book By JTA is my first effort into doing art books- which I've been wanting to do for awhile. Not a sketchbook, an art book. Fully colored pages of my own original design. Concept, and finished pieces. It's all me baby!
I've loved monsters since I was little- one of my childhood past times was watching horror movies with my dad- everything from the great Universal Monster Age to all the greats of the early 80s/90s, including A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Thing and Alien, just to name a few. I used to read my dad's copies of Fangoria, and grew up with a love for all mythologies and folklore- both international and local. I have a soft spot for Creature Features and love the intricacies of monster/creature design.
This book is a planned first step into me properly paying tribute to that love, and to those childhood memories. I am currently planning out an entire series of monster art books - each book featuring one or two select beasts-- in a slew of some of my favored illustration styles, including Pin Up and the extremely cartoony. First on the list: Demons.
I'm offering all kinds of rewards for your help in achieving my monstrous dreams. From one-of-a-kind prints, to a *limited edition* pin, to even being DRAWN INTO the last pages of the book, I'm offering something for everyone on every level. Well, I can't offer you my soul....Thats pretty much the only thing I'm not selling here...yet? *shrugs*
This has been a long time in the works, and something I need to do for myself- every artist, I believe, needs to be able to express themselves personally through their works- not just through commissions or assignments, but through works that express their passions, their loves in life. This is me, doing just that. And its made me the happiest I've been in quite awhile.
Thank you to everyone out there showin' me love and support- enjoy everyone! -JTA

Risks and challenges
I'll be finishing up the last of the pages (I'm about 75% done) while we run this kickstarter campaign (including the commissioned/custom pages included in the reward section) --- I'm using a local printer that I'm very confident in to print the book, as well as the 11x17 prints- I've used them for years now and have always been very happy with both their quality and efficiency.
If this campaign is successful, I'll be ordering the books at latest, 2 weeks from the last day of the campaign. Presently, having everything sent off in December seems very feasible (more than likely, a couple weeks into December, so should be in time for Christmas! ) and without much more delay- but I'll be keeping up with everyone via updates here as soon as I get them-- or, for any reason, anything comes up unexpectedly.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
