We are BEYOND grateful to our backers to bring us so quickly to our minimum goal. Here are our "stretch goals" for taking Drawn to the next level. Are we crazy for dreaming this big? Maybe so... maybe not-

@ 125,000.00 Three Words- North America Tour. This will be a live show with performance art and music on theater stages slotted for mid 2015.
This project (un)officially launched in 2009 while I was hiding in a cave under Mt Fitz Roy in Patagonia, Argentina. I was hoping to climb the mountain, but kept getting shut down by 70 mph winds and sleet. In the cave I was struck by the vision to go in the four directions from my home and climb my own routes- that is- unclimbed routes. After a month of waiting to climb something that had ALREADY been climbed, I needed a new quest that felt worthy.
I didn't know how long it would take, how much it would cost, or where I was going, but I knew it was happening. I went home from Patagonia empty handed but full of motivation and ambition.
Over the course of four years, with my wife's blessing, I set out on all four of the journeys; from the jungles of Venezuela, to the China-Mongolian Border, to the northern reaches of Canada, and closer to home in Yosemite Valley.
Each journey had a deep personal story for me, from the death of a friend, to the celebration of life, the love of my children, and the struggle of a tribe. I made many new friends, and their story became mine. I painted a schoolhouse in Yunek Village with the children and installed solar power for their emergency radio. I built a staircase in the Yukon to pay for a helicopter ride. I said farewell to a friend by releasing his ashes on each summit.
Along the way I filled five sketchbooks with art drawn from the experience. These journals are what inspire the story. These journals are what comprise the book.
I am SO excited to be partnering with Mountaineers Books to produce a beautiful hard-bound book of my story, featuring my mixed-media art (April 2015, 160 pages). Mountaineers Books is a nonprofit publisher based in Seattle with a mission to promote mountaineering literature and outdoor recreation. The book will also include images from great adventure photographers Corey Rich, James Q Martin, Mikey Schaefer, Jonny Copp, and Pat Goodman. This is where you come in. I feel film reaches my audience the most deeply, and gives the closest visceral experience of being out there. Having control of light, sound, music, atmosphere and timeline is so satisfying as an art form.
- The footage is comprised of: on-the-fly interviews, spectacular landscapes from around the globe, beautifully shot by numerous award winning artists, supplemented by my sketchbook art, with animated scenes I am SO EXCITED to get to work on.
- The Premiere is booked at the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival as an art performance in November of 2014 where it will showcase live music and art created on stage. JOIN US THERE so we can thank you from the stage!

Risks and challenges
It certainly wouldn't be worth the effort without some risk and challenge, now would it? But this isn't our first rodeo. We always get it done.
• Not successfully receiving funding. I am telling this story one way or another, but to do it in the most beautiful way I need the help of many people. Funding helps me afford the best animators, editors, and music to help tell the story.
• Sharing such personal stories is always risky. What if I cant capture the soul of the story? What if I get booed off stage? What if my mom doesn't like it? Art is best when there is some risk involved.
• The animated scenes. I always want to go as big as possible using technology sparingly. This introduces constant challenges.
• Adding a live element to the premiere. This always brings a whole new set of challenges to simply "making a film".
