Hi, my name is Jens, I am a comic artist from Tromsø, Norway. I started doing my comic strip Dunce in January 2017, and with the help from supporters like you, I've been able to self-publish these collections in English. It's now time for Dunce number four, and I have to say: this one is probably going to be the best issue so far!
I'm almost done putting this together, it's an action packed issue, with a total of 36 pages including a 7 page bonus story from my trip to New York and the MoCCA-festival earlier this year.
Ask anyone who's trying to make a living as a full time cartoonist: it can be a struggle these days, but self-publishing with the help from Patreons and Kickstarters is pure fun. Now that we've reached the initial goal, here's the three guest covers. All amazing and inpirational artists, I recommend looking them up on Instagram and/or Twitter:
Look at these amazing guest covers by Seagerdy (Norway), Ronny Haugeland (Norway) and Chris Sanhueza (Chile):
Winner: Dagbladet's strip competition 2016.
Winner: Norwegian Pondus-price 2017.
Nominated for Norwegian Sproing Award: "Best comic of 2017".
If you missed out on the first issues, they are still available. Choose the Dunce Bundle pledge and get all four!
I love drawing the old fashioned way with ink, nibs and brushes. For those of you who appreciate a piece of original art, to hang on your wall (or to keep in your collection), I've added the possibility to pledge for Dunce with an original drawing. The motif will be based on a panel from the book.
I went to New York and the MoCCA Festival earlier this year, as a bonus story in this issue you'll find my seven page travel diary.
I intend to get Dunce 4 printed and shipped to you as soon as possible after this Kickstarter-campaign is over.
Risks and challenges
The only risk I can see is that something unforeseen happens and the shipping of the comic will have to be delayed. In that case, I will keep backers informed.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
