Teeth is a 20 minute short film that explores the topic of bullying from the perspective of thirteen year old Daisy Brown. Fantastical elements such as ever-growing teeth and animated dream sequences will be utilized to discuss serious issues through the lens of magic realism.
It's quirky, funny and a bit dark. Think Freaks and Geeks meets Donnie Darko.
Teeth is inspired by several personal experiences that have found the perfect time to collide - right now.
My teeth are not straight. When I was nineteen, just as I began to accept their crookedness, I wrote a script called Teeth. It was very different from the film I want to make now, but the concept stayed with me.
Many years later, I began to document the lives of teen girls in a project titled Teenage Wasteland. Eventually my own experiences and those of the teen girls in Wasteland sparked the life of Daisy Brown, leading me to rewrite Teeth.
In this new version, I will talk about bullying in a way that I haven’t seen done before. I will explore how someone else's negative perception of you has the very real power to influence and change you. And, if you're not careful, how it can come to define you.
The film production itself poses a number of challenges that we briefly address in this video:
I hope you are excited to help make this film happen and discover for yourself the thrilling and shocking story of Daisy Brown.

The money raised will go towards the primary production costs of the film. Here is a basic breakdown:
Once the film is complete, our primary concern is distribution. There is limited market distribution available for short films, so we plan to do a targeted film festival tour. If you do want to see the film on the big screen, please donate a little extra so we can submit it to festivals around the world. Plus, any additional funds will help us increase the quality of our equipment, locations, crew and the film as a whole!
One last thing! If you are from Austin, TX you might remember another film called Teeth. However, it told a story quite different from our own. So just a disclaimer: our film does NOT include a vagina dentata.
Risks and challenges
Teeth is not a typical short film and our challenges are many: we are working with a young cast, our locations are restrictive and we aim to shoot a technically complicated film. We'll be working closely as a team in order to overcome these issues and create each scene exactly as we want. And we relish the challenge!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
