"Burnside" is a TV pilot about women, by women, and for everyone.
Help us create a new show about women, by women, and for everyone! Spread the word!
WHAT AND WHY
Women in mainstream media are represented unfairly and it needs to change. As young women working in the film and television industry, we want a show that promotes OUR idea of femininity in a tender and poetic yet unapologetic way. In response we have created and written “BURNSIDE,” a one-hour drama that not only shows every side of the real woman, but also speaks to our generation of twenty-something female firecrackers. “BURNSIDE” is a raw look into the female perspective, yet also full of inspiration and laughs. Be prepared for a ride.
The funding from Kickstarter will allow us to shoot the pilot episode of the series. We are all passionate about bringing this project to life, and have recruited a fabulous team of dedicated and experienced young professionals with a thirst to prove themselves and create a show with real backbone. While all the individuals on board are volunteering their time, we need your support to rent equipment, locations, and feed our cast and crew. $5,000 is our pledge goal, but the more money raised, the better the pilot episode of "BURNSIDE" will be -- and the more likely episode two will be made (trust us, you'll be begging for the second).
Four young women learn that being a modern day woman, is nothing compared to living with one.
Pilot episode summary:
Blaine, Kyla, Sarah, and Amber have kept in touch since they graduated college almost two years ago... For the most part, anyways. After Kyla inherits her recently deceased grandmother’s house, the four girls move from various parts of the country to share the old place in Los Angeles. Blaine drives out from New York, picking up Amber in Las Vegas on her way. Sarah shows up too, from god knows where this time. All together again, tensions arise when they realize how much they have drifted and as they attempt to reunite. Sarah and Amber are constantly at each other’s throats over veganism, feminism, and everything in between. A stressed Kyla calls for cocktail hour following afternoon yoga. And while Blaine tries to maintain neutrality at home, her professional and personal life takes an unforeseen, chaotic turn.
