About this project
My name is Jeni Shirley. Thanks for taking the time to watch my video and consider my project! I created Stitched Cards a few years ago as a hobby, and then started a small greeting card business with a passion for adding something unique to the world. Each card is embroidered in my SLC workshop, with needle and thread to create textural appeal; and each one connects people and doubles as a piece of art. I also create custom cards and small art pieces, and I've begun to expand into more products, including embroidered drink koozies, flour sack towels, and other accessories.
This project is about producing my new lines of embroidered cards and accessories, their wholesale catalogs, and outfitting a booth to showcase them at the National Stationery Show in NYC on May 19th, 2013.
I've been pretty successful in putting my cards in stores on a local level, plus a few shops in other states. I've streamlined my process, and prepared myself for future growth, so this is the next step for me and my little company. The responses to testing my new items has been great, so I want to move forward with them. The trade show provides the opportunity to show my products to prospective buyers. I'll have opportunities to start relationships with new retailers, nurture existing ones, connect with sales reps, meet industry professionals, and establish an overall presence in the stationery market. People have really connected with my products so far, as well as me and my company - so I think this will be a very fruitful and satisfying project.
See the little green icons in the column to the right? I've put together some different pledge options for you to get some of my cool products. I hope they interest you, and that you believe in me enough to back me. Here are some of the things you can get:
Because I've put every penny I've earned back into my work, your backing on this project will make it possible to carry out just about everything needed in a few months (this coming May). Where will your money be spent? First is producing my new line of cards and accessories, including materials such as card stock, lots and lots of thread, printing, and accessory blanks. The money will also be put toward new wholesale catalogs featuring these products, promotional materials for my custom services, and outfitting a booth at the National Stationery Show, in which to exhibit all of these products. Booth costs generally include: booth space at the Javits convention center, walls, floor, lights, signage, displays, furniture, shipping the booth elements, hiring union labor to install, marketing materials, tools, and supplies.
In addition to rewards, everyone who backs me will get regular exciting updates on the project (including great photos), and the person who donates the most money will have a say in my next line of cards (ever drawn a little sketch and wanted it to go somewhere?). The catch with Kickstarter projects is that the funding is ALL OR NOTHING, so if I don’t reach my goal, I get nothing, and everyone cries. So please back me, and then spread the word, and I'll be so grateful from the bottom of my heart. THANK YOU!
Also a HUGE THANKS to Mike Eldredge and his team for the making of the video.

Risks and challenges
I've participated in some training for the trade show, and it seems like something always goes wrong, small or large, for most people. So I plan to be as prepared as possible, organize things early, have a back up plan, and move forward no matter what. I have support from family and friends, and I'm a dedicated person, so I'm sure I'll do a good job.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
