Thinking & Drinking is a celebration of conversation and craft brewing.
When you get together with friends for a beer we want you to pay attention to them - not your phone, texts or emails. For Thinking & Drinking we've written more than 300 questions designed to get you talking, laughing and enjoying yourself.
As an added Kickstarter feature, we've asked more than 300 craft brewers to showcase their favorite beers on a card. Thinking & Drinking includes breweries from all 50 states and D.C. and range of breweries from well-known names to some smaller, start-ups. You can see the entire list of featured breweries at www.ThinkingDrinking.Beer/Supporters (#DrinkLocal)
Thinking & Drinking includes six (6) decks - each containing 54 cards - so you can bring a deck to the brewery's tasting room, the brew pub, the bar, a friend's house ... or wherever it is you'll be playing.
Each deck contains unique question cards - and new brewery profiles.
We call Thinking & Drinking "A Game of Self-Discovery or Self-Destruction" because you're going to learn something new about other players ... and maybe even yourself.
- If giving up cheese made you immortal, would you do it?
- Other than your bed, where's the last place you slept?
- What mythological creature do you wish existed?
- What are five things you can't live without?
- Which could you go longer without, the internet or coffee?
- If you could meet anyone (living or dead), who would it be?
- If aliens landed here right now, which player would you send to greet them?
We've designed Thinking & Drinking's gameplay to be open and flexible so our only rule is that EVERYONE must answer the question that's asked.
Because the game will vary each time you play it – new players, new answers – we wanted to make it open. Also, Thinking & Drinking is about the conversation, not keeping score - though you can if you want.
You can decide what the penalty is if someone tries to skip out on answering a question. You decide whose answer was the best. You decide who buys the next round.
We've already had players offer ideas on gameplay variations and we'll continue to add those to Thinking & Drinking's rules page.
When you start playing, if you have ideas for other ways to play the game, tweet us at @ThinkingDrink or email us at info@ThinkingDrinking.Beer
We invited craft breweries from across the United States to be featured on Thinking & Drinking cards because we like craft beer and we think it's important to support locally owned breweries.
The brewery profiles on Thinking & Drinking cards are a way to introduce our Kickstarter backers to breweries and beers that you might not yet know ... that's part of the discovery aspect of the game.
You'll find some of craft brewing's biggest names on Thinking & Drinking cards and you'll also find some incredible regional and local breweries.
Thinking & Drinking includes breweries from all 50 states and Washington, D.C. so hopefully you'll seek out these breweries - and their beers - when you're local to them.
Now you know why you'll see the #DrinkLocal tag on almost everything we do!
We need your help to bring Thinking & Drinking to production. We've spent the past year working on questions, designing and redesigning the cards, printing prototypes, testing the game. We've spent the past few months recruiting the breweries that are featured on cards.
We're on Kickstarter to raise money needed for the inaugural printing of Thinking & Drinking.
Now, to bring this game to life we need YOU!
We're not offering t-shirts, bottle openers and other branded stuffs because we're focused solely on getting Thinking & Drinking printed and getting it into the hands of players ... that's our sole focus for this Kickstarter campaign.
Here's an explainer of the Thinking & Drinking pledge levels:
Thank you for taking the time to check out Thinking & Drinking's Kickstarter campaign.
We are grateful for your support and the support of all of the craft brewers and breweries who are participating in the inaugural printing of Thinking & Drinking.
Remember, always #DrinkLocal ... Cheers!

Risks and challenges
Before launching we've spoken to dozens of people who have launched on Kickstarter - and we focused those conversations on games (particularly card games) and beer/brewing.
We are members of the Brewers Association and GAMA - trade groups for craft brewing and gaming respectively - so we've leveraged those resources for knowledge.
Here's a few other things that we wanted to make sure we pointed out:
- We have written all the questions and have completed card templates and prototypes prior to launch.
- We will be working with Amazon.com to handle all fulfillment and shipping.
- We are working with Cartamundi - a global leader in printing of card games and promotional designs. Cartamundi was founded in 1970 when three printers who have experience dating back to 1765 joined forces ... so they've got some knowledge.
- We got 300+ breweries signed on to be profiled ahead of our Kickstarter launch.
- Funding ... that's why we're here! We don't have the start-up capital to get this game launched so we need your help to get it launched and in your hands!
