Konkussion Stories is a documentary for the players, by the players, on a topic the NFL has been brushing under the rug for decades.
In 2010, The National Institute of Health estimated that over 40,000 players, nationwide, endured some form of concussive injury to the brain, from mild to severe... on a high school level. Obviously, the problem is more critical in college and, of course, the NFL. Traumatic Brain Injury, as a result of head to head impact, on all levels of organized football, from Pop Warner to Professional, has skyrocketed. Awareness of this problem is growing. Steps are being taken to correct the problem. That's the good news. It's now time to look deeper. To tell the stories of the players who have suffered and are still suffering. KONKUSSION STORIES will give voice to those players and their families.
KONKUSSION STORIES is a feature length documentary that will give audiences access to the other side of the story beyond our own voyeuristic perspectives. While the video features Jeff and Doug's friends from the Cowboys, we will be reaching out to the greater NFL community and former members of other teams. This is the chance to watch retired NFL athletes, friends, wives, and family members share their side of the experience while dealing with the hardest hits and hitters in the NFL. What's controversial about the documentary are the issues before the NFL crack down on playing with injuries. Players will recount their experiences of playing while, often times, barely functioning.
We will go far beyond the sound bite, the edited sports interview and open the doors wide on the lives of the men we cheered for and revered. These stories promise to be brutally honest, heartbreakingly human… often times funny, other times shocking, always truthful and... in the end inspiring.
KONKUSSION STORIES is the film that needs to be made. With your help, it can be.
We'll also be launching a Konkussion Stories website! The website will feature 5 new interviews each week updated from the road as our crew travels across the country. These are the same interviews that will be used to complete the feature length documentary.
WHO WE ARE:
Who could possibly be better to produce this project other than some former NFL players and a veteran producer? This film is produced by Jeff Rohrer, a Linebacker with the Dallas Cowboys from 1982-1989 and award winning commercial and television producer; Doug Cosbie, all pro Tight End with the Cowboys from 1979-1988; Barry O'Brien, Executive Producer of CSI:MIAMI, Co-Creator of Hannah Montana, and Co-Executive Producer of TOUCH; in partnership with Recommended Media.
The plan is to have a skilled film crew travel across the United States documenting the actual stories of the heroes who played the game. We already have support from a strong contingent of NFL players who believe in this project and want their stories told. The film will be directed by accomplished commercial and documentary director, Peter Rodger. He is best known for directing the successful documentary, “Oh My God…” Take the opportunity to make a donation and make this film a reality. Help us give voice to our modern day gladiators and get their stories told.
Travel and accommodations will not beincluded with any rewards that involve set visits or attending the premiere. Any rewards that require setting dates will be mutually agreed upon with Director, Producers, and athletes. Premiere and After Party date TBD. Estimated delivery date is a maximum approximation of when you'll be receiving the items.
NOTE: We originally listed that we will only be shipping in the US but we've decided that we can ship internationally if you add $15 to your donation! Thanks!

This project is ambitious to say the least but we've got a powerful team and the resources to make it happen. Shooting the project is a straight forward process, it's just a matter of having the means to do so. We already have players who are excited to share their stories and contribute to the cause, including assisting with our awesome rewards. Primarily, the funding will be used for actual physical production and to take good care of our crew while they're on the road and for editorial costs. Another struggle is obtaining the resources to purchase NFL footage to cut into the documentary itself.
