The 2016 Vancouver Trail Running Calendar is a 100% volunteer fundraising effort, by trail runners for trail runners. Our goal is to celebrate the work of our local photographers, and to showcase the beauty that our trails have to offer, all while bringing the trail running community together around a great cause.
All net profits from this first campaign will be donated to North Shore Rescue, a volunteer-based mountain search and rescue team in Vancouver, BC, celebrating 50 years as a vital emergency response service that directly benefits the local outdoor community.
Here's why it's so important that North Shore Rescue gets our help:
- They perform around 90 search & rescue operations annually and this is on the rise.
- NSR is 100% volunteer run and depends on your donations to function.
- Their team of 40 volunteers are skilled in mountain search and rescue, even providing services to government during civil emergencies. But they need help funding their continued training, in addition to equipment repairs and overhead.
Learn more about how the money donated to NSR will be used in the video below.
The calendar will be available for purchase at local retail partners, including Mountain Equipment Co-op, Distance Runwear, Vancouver Running Company, Salomon West Vancouver, and North Shore Athletics. But only if we can sell an initial 100 copies to help cover our costs.
As a thank you to those who support the project in this early stage, the first 100 calendars sold will come with a ticket to the launch party on December 3rd, 2015 in West Vancouver where you’ll get a chance to meet some of the photographers involved, to win some great door prizes, and to grab some amazing deals in our silent auction.
Our team of volunteers have assembled a roster of incredible photographers excited to showcase their work, and a growing list of sponsors and retail partners eager to support the campaign. All we need is your help to make this project a reality.
So buy your copy today and remember to start using our hashtags #RunWildVan and #ThisIsNorthShore on Twitter and Instagram to help celebrate all that our beautiful backyard has to offer. Visit http://runwildvan.com
Risks and challenges
A commitment of $20 from an initial 100 backers will cover our hard costs on the printing of our initial run of at least 500 calendars. The rest of these calendars will then be sold by retail partners with all proceeds going to the campaign.
Sponsors have also begun purchasing advertising in the footer of the calendar pages, further contributing to our overall campaign fundraising goal. Additional revenue will be generated at our launch party form both drink sales and our silent auction.
