A Halo Called Fred: Getting the band ready
I first saw "A Halo Called Fred" more than 20 years ago, at a band showcase night, when I was looking at colleges. Their combination of utterly offbeat humor, deeply solid songwriting, and quietly tight musicanship (sometimes, when we hear a wall of sound coming out of our speakers, we forget how difficult and how powerful it is to have an acoustic band which comes together as a single force) - well, it literally made me decide to go to that school. And two decades later, it's part of why we've started bringing rock operas to our shows.
In terms of getting them the "What Sharp Teeth" music, since I wrote all of this music myself (unlike Absinthe Heroes, which was scored by the brilliant Psyche Corporation) - I'm able to not just get them the basic music, but I can also play it for them. So I've started brushing up on my own playing, and I'm seeking to meet with them next week to start going over the first few songs.
I'll keep you in the loop about the show, and if you ever have questions, just message me!
Very truly yours,
