About this project
Welcome to the world of jeffeka!
The lowercased name jeffeka is a dream company/project that's been in the works for six years. The concept is basically a brand of fun, stuffed plush characters for kids & the kid at heart. Now I just need funding to go into production and create a website to share jeffeka with the universe!
What's the story?
jeffeka is a group of tiny islands on the West Stufflantic Ocean where colorful characters run its shores and streets. Folks include The Ghost Bunnis (cute lil' critters with a permanent frown), Hamburger Girl (a meaty socialite with her own pop group) and The Yum Yums (genetically engineered carrots).
What's the goal?
The goal is to make the first big batch of the plush character toys and start an interactive website where you can purchase and also play.
My first step is to complete a round of production of the jeffeka stuffed characters. I have all the fleece fabric for the "body" of the characters. So now I need to buy all the stuffing, buttons, etc.
The majority of the money would go to the actual completion of the plush toys (stuffing, sewing, labor, etc.). Because I will be making these in the USA, the jeffeka products will cost more to make than if I were to outsource overseas. There are also minimums per character/color so I will have to make quite a few to meet that.
There will be a shop on the jeffeka website www.jeffeka.com (currently linked to my tumblr) where you can buy all things jeffeka (toys, totes, tees, etc.). In regards to the interactive part of the website, I imagine a travel agency-like look where you are taken to the world of jeffeka and see what the islands and characters have to offer you when visiting. Humorous videos/webisodes with the characters will play a big part in this too.
Later on, I'd love to pitch jeffeka as a live action/puppet show ala Mister Roger's/Pee Wee's Playhouse/The Muppets.
(here are some of the samples and fleece looking for a home)
Meet the Characters!
Please peruse jeffeka's characters (so far). Sketches and completed plush character samples below:
Ghost Bunni started it all. He's the first character I came up with (been drawing him about 10 years or so). Hopefully, his frown makes you smile.
Girl Ghost Bunni
Ghost Bunni needed a girlfriend. And she needed a bow.
Hamburger Girl is new to jeffeka islands. She was on Spring Break with some other wealthy teens and decided that she'd like to make this place home permanently! She's in an all-girl pop band called The Junkettes. And duh, she sings lead vocals.
The Yum Yums
Poor little guys. These genetically engineered "carrots" are courtesy of Hamburger Girl's parents. You see, Hamburger Girl wanted a condo. And of course, she gets what she wants. Unfortunately, she wiped out the sole carrot patch on Ghost Bunni Island! The Ghost Bunnis were devastated so Hamburger Girl had a fix: faux carrots from a science lab that taste like bacon-flavored ice cream! But the Ghost Bunnis are deathly allergic to bacon AND ice cream. Whoops.
Dogs LOVE jeffeka!

JEFFEKA Video Shoot & BONUS Video!
My friends Darren Herczeg (CAMERA/EDITING), Colleen Smith (MANCY) and Eliot Schwartz (RICHARD) helped me with this little video.
Here are some pics from set:
And just for fun, check out the BONUS Dramatic Scene with JEFFEKA Operator Mancy:
SIDE NOTE: If you live in or LA or ever plan to visit, you HAVE to see my favorite live show ever called "THE CRAZY UNCLE JOE SHOW" at The Groundlings Theater. Colleen frequents the cast and it's the best long-form improv around! For more information visit: http://groundlings.com
