Greetings and Salutations!
To my friends, family, fellow writers, publishers, artists and adventurers.
The Story Began Years Ago . . . but the adventure begins NOW!
I began taking pen to page in 1993 with a character I named Fireblade. As I grew, so did the character, and so did the world he lives in Terralea. As with any great adventure, there were lessons learned and alliances made, but now is the climax for the beginning of this tale. That is where we have come to meet . . . here, now. Fireblade is ready to step from the page into the minds and hearts of all, he is a character that is meant to inspire, entice, and lead the readers on the beginnings of a journey which I believe echoes true with everyone from the rich man in the mansion, to the poor in the shelters. That is what this project is for . . .
Forging Phoenix From the Fires.
This project is to bring Fireblade to Hardback, Paperback, and e-book. No longer to be a bunch of sweat, tears, creative thoughts jumbled on a computer, jotted in notes and kept locked in my mind, but made whole, physical and available for all.
I have already invested personal funds, time an effort into the design, editing, advertising and marketing, but I cannot fund it all. The final push is all I need to open the door to this tale. My hope is that this will pave the way for the rest of the series to be completed as well.
But it is all for naught without you.
Flames of Adventure Burn in the Hearts of all:
So, what is Fireblade about? Here are the words from the back cover:
Two hundred years have passed since the Great War. Evil magick and violence still ravage the lands of Vercinnor. Human kind wars with elves, the Wyzaerds have all but vanished from Terralea and darkness blackens the horizon. A young elf, Aicanaro, must walk a path between light and darkness where only he can govern his true destiny. As a nomadic assassin, diplomat and General, Aicanaro is tested and tempered in the flames of battle. By blade and fire, Aicanaro mitigates his heart and quiets his rage on the front line against evil. The war selects its champions carefully, reluctant as they may be. Out of the inferno and ash an unlikely legend is born who may be the only hope for all of Terralea.
The war between the elves and humans quickly approaches its climax as, on the fringe, the dark elven race; the Sha'edyri, vie for thier piece of Vercinnor. Aicanaro must become a legend to return peace to the land. But will the cost be too high to pay? Will the once clear lines of good and evil blur beyond recognition, or will the war end all of Terralea before there is a chance for peace?
Not With a Blade, but with The Pen . . .
So what about this guy JD Sims?
I have been writing and drawing since I could write and draw. I see visuals of the scenes in my head as if I was living the adventures and transcribe them to page. The Fireblade Chronicles begins with this one book, but I already have 3 more manuscripts ready to follow and outlines ready for 9 books total in this series. The tale grew as I did and it could no longer be held in one volume . . . or more likely it would be one volume read like War and Peace, this way is much easier.
I have created bannners, symbols, weapons, cities, cultures, languages and more for this world to help bring it to life for more than just me.
But more than that, this is the story that I have decided must be made public. Too many themes ring true with too many people, world situations, generation gaps and so on to ignore. That is why I have dedicated my time and monies to this point and to this apex to launch, not only my professional career as an author, but the tale and adventures of Terralea, Vercinnor and Fireblade.
Your pledges will stoke the flames of the forge not only to bring this to hardcover, paperback, and e-book life, but also begin the path for the following tales that continue this journey.
Frequently Asked Items:
So, you just want to hurry and print this cause you're tired of it not being printed?
Not really, the fact of the matter is that it is polished as much as I can, it has been through countless iterations, revised and professionally edited. I have seen to all that on my own and if I had the funds to continue I would have done so.
Why not send it to big name publishers?
Easy enough, and selfishly . . . Control. The tale that is woven in The Fireblade Chronicles is not one that generically fits into a cookie cutter mold. The tale was written as it was meant to be told, and has been refined the same way. Like creating a blade that would cut the very air, delicately and precisely so as to give the reader, not just a formula to follow, but an adventure to live.
Can I read a sample of the book?
Of course. I am a great proponent of trailers, teasers and whetting the appetite of potential readers. Like I said, the story is meant to be shared and enjoyed . . . but fair warning . . . this is ONLY a taste.
Would you really write me in as a character in book 2 and/or 3?
I am a man of my word. I would indeed write a character likeness of you into the books upcoming. You were bold enough to donate at that level to bring Fireblade to the masses, it is the least I can do to show my appreciation.
