With the end of the Space Shuttle Program in sight, what is NASA's plan for the future of America's Space Program?

One after the other, NASA has delayed the launch of STS-133 Space Shuttle Discovery from early last November, to late November, to early February, now to late February. These delays also effect the launch date of STS-134 which has now been pushed back to sometime mid April. The reason for the delays have been numerous. Initially, STS-133 was delayed due to a leak in the umbilical that vents hydrogen gas away from the Space Shuttle. Now, NASA engineers have discovered a crack in the bracket that connects to the main External Fuel Tank. Space Shuttle Discovery was recalled from the launch pad back to the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) for repairs. NASA seems confident that the repairs will be made on time and the launch will continue as scheduled.

What this means for the documentary is a drastic delay. We will no longer be able to release Grounded this spring as we had originally hoped. Steps have been taken toward prolonging production and hopefully we will be able to complete the documentary as planned but we cannot know for sure given the recent events unfolding at NASA.

We are confident that this will not be the death of Grounded and will merely be a delay. We thank you all for your continued support with this project and will update you with news as it unfolds.
