Welcome to the iOS 11 Developer Course Kickstarter project. My name is Josh Bury and I am from New Zealand. While I work as a farm worker, I spend lots of my spare time developing iOS Apps.
If this course if funded it will be created and made available for you through Udemy. Along with an iOS App that will be released at a later date.
This course is for anyone that is looking to learn how to design, develop and publish iOS Apps to the Apple App Store. No coding experience is required for this course so if you are a beginner, this course is suited for you. Even if you have experience with coding you can still learn something new.
All the coding will be done with Swift 4, Apple's own programming language that was first introduced in 2014. The software used to develop the apps is Xcode 9, you will be shown how to download this in the course. This is where we will be spending most of our time throughout the course.
Udemy is where the course will be published for you to learn how to Develop iOS Apps. You can view all the content through their website or through their mobile app. With the mobile app, all the lectures can be downloaded for offline use to view at a later time. You will also be able to track your progress through the course, and get support when you need it.
Once the course has been published to Udemy, an iOS App version of the course will be put into development. Within the app there will be all of the course videos to stream and even all the apps that you will learn how to create will be built in.
We will start the course with the basics, which will cover installing Xcode (software used to develop iOS Apps), enrolling as an Apple Developer and setting up your device for testing. Once everything is setup you will create your first app. After progressing through the course, you will be making more advanced applications and even publishing one to the App Store.
Once the full curriculum has been confirmed, it will be published here through a project update.
Although there is no prior coding experience is needed for this course, there are requirements. They are:
- Apple computer running MacOS High Sierra
- An internet connection
- If you wish to publish applications to the App Store you will be required to pay the Apple Developer Program fee ($99USD)
- If you wish to test your app on a real device, an iOS device running iOS 11 is required (iPhone, iPad or iPod touch)
Risks and challenges
iOS 11 and Xcode 9 have not yet been released at this time. Although they are available in Beta, I prefer all my recording are done with the public release version's. So I cannot start recording until they are officially released. This means there is less time to get the content out before the deadline I have set. If there are any changes to the release date of the course, it will be posted as an update so everyone is informed. I also cannot give an estimated time for the release of the Developer Course iOS App.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
