We Did It!
Twas a long, hard road to building this big bird, but the reception was worth it. Burners loved it, and used it as a beacon and meeting spot all week long. What a week it was. A lovely couple got wed. Chase's butt became famous. The line for Hell was longer than Disneyland (maybe no surprise at Burning Man). And Tutu Tuesday was thoroughly observed.
More than 1,000 people climbed our shaky ladder, and were mostly a combination of giddy and terrified. Some unauthorized climbing occurred, but we had a perfect safety record.
The Build Team and Mingo Crew did a fantastic job. Some of them were on Playa for more than two weeks, including through some major dust storms. Through long hours, hot weather, and constant setbacks, our smiles endured.
We returned home to a whirlwind of joy and praise. Phoenicopterus Rex was featured by Rolling Stone, National Geographic, and countless Instagram posts. Even everyone's absolute favorite hotel chain heiress paid a visit. If you post photos online, please tag them with #PhoenicopterusRex!
You should have received your postcard by now, if you replied to our backer survey in time. If not, just let us know and we'll send another, although sadly not with the BRCPO postmark. Stickers, pins, and bonus wristbands are here and they look all look great.
As we finish gathering perks, we'll start shipping, most likely in November.
This will be the end of our regular updates, although we'll keep you in the loop for Josh's future projects.
I love you, Josh, and I have never been happier for you :-D
