The build team loaded and rolled out from our San Francisco workshop on Monday:

After a few adjustments to account for wind resistance, they got on the road to Black Rock City, and arrived on Tuesday. From left to right, the build crew is Josh, Alex, Zee (bottom), Sri, Chase, and Jon:

By Wednesday, Artery assigned a spot for the Bird along the 9 o'clock promenade, specifically a spot known as 9:02 and 1900'. Pretty sweet real estate.

For the next few days, the crew was hard at work on assembly. The Bird is so big that even unloading is a project:

Art Support Services came and went with cranes several times, as the crew gradually devised a plan. Getting the legs in place with the available equipment proved to be harder than anticipated.

Finally on Friday, it was done, the world's largest flamingo:

It happened. It actually happened. We almost can't believe it. The pink is stunning against the sky and Playa, and the view from atop is excellent:

If you're visiting Burning Man this year, please come by to check it out. Rex will be open for climbing roughly 1 PM to 9 PM daily, starting Monday. Parties will be happening around dusk on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

If you're not Burning this year, keep an eye on your mail box for a postcard direct from Black Rock City. They're all hand written by the team, with dusty hands and warm hearts.

Thanks again for your help making this happen. Mingo Crew <3 you!
