We are in the last three days of our Kickstarter campaign, and have another $598 to raise. Josh's heartfelt email to family and friends helped bring in many donations, pushing us from 67% to 94% funded in just two days. Many of these folks were first time Kickstarters; special thanks to those backers :-D
Pretty pretty please help us get to 100% by sending your friends to huge.pink. Domo danko!
The coupling plates between the body and neck are done. They feature two arm holes, so the assembly crew can reach through with bolts. Try not to imagine squeezing into a crawl space 28 feet off the ground while a crane holds the two pieces together around your arm. Seriously, don't imagine it.
Frame painting is done. This will help prevent corrosion, and ensure our giant bird lives long after Burning Man 2017. Good thing we're all so comfortable in dust masks.
The build team took a much-needed weekend off for a camping trip, but is now working seven days a week until departing for Black Rock City on August 19. Now that the skeleton is done, we've been framing out the observation deck with plywood. Work on the legs is also under way. Let's just say: they're not toothpicks.
Soon the final form should take shape, first as a foam base and then wrapped in fiberglass skin. SO EXCITING!
Until next week,
