Five Realms Issue #2
A samurai squirrel and his two mice best friends desperately try to maintian peace within the Five Realms in this 32 page installment.
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Sun, February 10 2019 8:05 PM UTC +00:00.
Sword-fighting squirrels, alchemist lizards, Edo Japan. This story's got it all.
From the husband and wife creative team behind Five Realms Issue 1 and The Firewatch, comes the next 32-page installment in the Five Realms series.
We pick up immediately from where we last left our heroes, the last warriors of the Mallow Clan - running desperately for their lives escaping a frenzied, beastly terror.
In their frantic escape and left with more questions than answers in the Golden King's stronghold, our trio find themselves with an unexpected new member in their party: the King's very own skink alchemist.
They must make it back to their home and present their findings to the Lord of Whitefall. Who is this strange alchemist? What can be done against the full might of the Mountains...?
Patrick Reilly is the writer and creator of the Five Realms. On a long hike with his wife in the summer of 2017, he discussed his dream of bringing this childhood project to life.
Jessica Reilly is the artist behind Five Realms. During it's initial release at Silicon Valley Comic Con in 2018, all 150 of our ordered copies sold out and left a very stunned husband and wife team at the booth. From there, we dove into a project to expand the Five Realms universe. The Firewatch was created and, through a successful Kickstarter, launched in January of 2019.
Our funding goal will breakdown something like this:
- The cost to print at least 100 copies of our comic; Full color covers + 32 pages of black and white story.
- Shipping of the deliverables and our incentives (prints, button packs, stretch goals).
- Cover the cost of Kickstarter fees.
If we make our goal in pledges by our deadline you will then get charged for your donation, and receive some awesome incentives in return (like the print or the super sweet button packs!).
However, if we don't make our goal, your card doesn't get charged and we don't receive any funding. It's an all-or-nothing game. We have faith that we're going to make it happen. To check out the various incentives and their corresponding donation levels, peruse the visualized boxes below or the column on the right.
We are also offering two stretch goals!
We will now be offering a 4"x 6" postcard print! This reward is an extra that will be added to everyone's package as long as you qualified for a reward tier ($4 and up).
Thank you for helping us get this far!
We are now adding this A4-sized print of "Night Crossing" to all Kickstarter pledges at the $8 tier and up. As long as you ordered something physical, both this and the postcard print are yours!
And That's It!
Thanks so much for taking the time to explore our Kickstarter page. If you feel compelled to pledge towards our goal, we are so very grateful! We really couldn't do this without you.

Risks and challenges
We are just about done with the art in the comic with a hard deadline to deliver a finished product in time for a summer full of conventions.
We will be using the same printer that successfully brought Issue #1 to life and are highly confident in the quality of our end product.
If the funding goal has not been met, we will produce a smaller run for sale at conventions as well as my online shop.
This is a magnificent way to bundle great rewards at a significantly lower price than a la carte online or at shows.
This is my second Kickstarter. The last one was a small success and all rewards were sent to backers and received exactly when initially promised.
