Lights, Camera...

Just a few key updates...

I got the HD webcam and started working on improving the lighting set up which makes a huge difference. You can see in this video how much cleaner the key looks although it still breaks a little bit... I've also been playing around with some sensors and animation but the real push will have to happen when I get back from winter break and get my own screens. (I had to return the screen at the end of the term this week).

Thesis Review & Holiday Party

On Monday we had a big Thesis Committee review, which went really well. Everyone seemed on board with the direction of the project and encouraged me to continue developing it and pumping it with features that further mix the real world and the virtual world. I think the next experiment will be making the Portal mobile and taking it out into the world.

And then this past Friday we had a studio open house / holiday party where people were able to interact with it. It seems to be quite popular with the kids. I got a little nervous when 3 of the little ones were trying to all use it at the same time, but I guess that's good user testing right?

Also, of course there's always more updates on the project blog: http://tinypaperclips.com/

Also, here's some coverage from around the web!
