The most common questions we get after our circus show are always, "What is your workout?" and "How do you stay in such good shape?" Well, we'd love to show you with this new creative project, a Circus Stella Workout DVD.
This dream has been a long time in the making. Being a gymnast as a child, and a professional circus acrobat as an adult formed the basis of my fitness foundation. But I needed to learn as much as I could about fitness and exercise science, so I chose to become a Certified Personal Trainer with the American College of Sports Medicine. After passing the exam, I found a mentor, fitness professional Mike Krug to consult on the DVD to make sure it will be the best quality workout and a useful tool for anyone who wants to improve their fitness. Add in qualified Yoga Instructor Amber Nedoff to consult on the stretching, plus the film crew from Video Dye Productions and you've got a great team to produce an outstanding workout DVD.
I want to help people find the joy in exercise and become fit, fitter, and circus fit! This DVD will include a full workout we can do together; warm up, training, cool down, and stretching. In addition I will provide my own tips on staying motivated and getting some extra movement into every day. And of course, we'll include a full performance of our show, Circus Stella, with rope-walking, aerial silk, trapeze, and performing rescued dogs! Yay dogs! Our dogs definitely help me stay in shape. Here they are helping me with my yoga...
Risks and challenges
I can be a bit of a perfectionist, so I'm sure what will take the longest is the planning and design of the exact workout plus creating lots of variations to meet everyone's different fitness level. The quality of the program is very important to me, so it will be a challenge to settle on the final design. Luckily I have great helpers in my corner who are willing to go over my plans and offer critiques and suggestions, like Mike Krug of Next Level Personal Training and Yoga Instructor Amber Nedoff.
The other potential challenge is the filming schedule. We'll have to film both during the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire (to get the show footage) and on a day when they're closed (to get the workout). We'll be potentially limited by weather, as rain days would be impossible to film in, but luckily we have two solid months so surely we can find two sunny days to get everything on tape!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
