When I moved to Arizona 18 years ago courtesy of the USAF I had left behind all my high school gamer friends. I had organized a classic Battletech group at USAF Tech School in Texas but had to leave them as well when shipped to Arizona. I didn't know anyone here (sniff) and wanted to get reconnected to the gaming community. I came across Hexacon and the rest was history. I later discovered LepreCon, CopperCon, Con Games, RandomCon and a host of other cons. Some have lasted some have not. But MaricopaCon is here to stay. A gaming convention is a great place to meet new gamer friends. Especially if you just moved to town or live far from a game store. It is also a great place to try out new games before you buy them. MaricopaCon is run and organized by gamers for gamers. The GMs have many years of experience in AZ and CA conventions. I look forward to continuing to assist in the making of memories for you and your gamer family.
It is a great spot and we will be gaming in some of the same rooms the great Phoenix Comic Con started out in many years ago. Downtown Mesa has many great art galleries, restaurants, and places to stay. Stay tuned on the convention website after the project ends to get updates regarding venue.
We will be sure to have people running Munchkin, Fluxx, Last Night on Earth, Cards Against Humanity, Apples to Apples, Tsuro, Illuminati, Iconica, Dominion, Dungeon, Formula De, Thunderstone, Magic the Gathering, Pandemic, Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, FRAG, Nuclear War, Red Dragon Inn, and many many many more games!
We will have the iconic Ken St. Andre running his new version of Tunnels and Trolls, Todd VanHooser running The Laughing Moon Chronicles, Dennis Kauffman running Time Renegades, and some old school D&D by multiple GMs. We are working on adding more to the RPG lineup as well.
The first song is called "The Barren Twelve" by Seth Podowitz. The second song is called "The Battle of Shadow Pass" by David Allen Young of Dronolan's Tower. MaricopaCon thanks these two awesome people for the use of their music for the video.
