ATTENTION: my new stretch goal is to surpass the $15,000 mark. Only if you want a Christmas Album that is.
Thank you so much for making it here to my page. Without you, this won't happen!
Something that I have done over the last few months to prepare myself as well as those of you who listen to my music, is record a three song album, "My Soul to Save EP." This album was recorded mainly to give you guys a taste of what the new album will be like if I am able to raise the funds for it (notice that this EP also will be free to you with any amount you pledge to this Kickstarter). To show my appreciation to you guys, here is one of those new songs! Listen to more free music at jasonwallermusic.com.
"Expect great things; attempt great things." - William Carey, 1700's missionary.
In the past I have been better at expecting rather than attempting. Honestly, I never thought I would be attempting a task as great as this -raising $11,300 to professionally record my first full-length album. Each penny pledged goes toward getting this music recorded and ready to place in the hands of people, whether that is through iTunes or an old fashion CD (remember those - the kind you can physically hold). To me the potential is bigger than spreading my music. This Kickstarter exists to spread the name and fame of Jesus through this new music.
I pray that these songs would be more than songs - that each melody and lyric would move those listening to a better understanding of how God relates with his people. Nothing would thrill me more than to see people worship Christ for the first time or the thousandth time through this whole endeavor. Would you consider being a part of it?
WHERE IS THE PROJECT NOW & WHERE IS THE PROJECT GOING?
A great question you might be asking is, "What is $11,300 going to accomplish?"
All the songs for the full-length album are written and ready for the studio. I am super stoked about the top notch musicians and studio workers I will get to work with to make this recording happen (not to mention top of the line recording equipment). That being said, the next step includes paying the studio fees in St. Louis: engineer, professional musicians, recording, mixing, and mastering. I already have dates booked in May to start recording, just a few short weeks after this Kickstarter is finished.
Hopefully you have already or will take time to look at some of the creative rewards listed on the right side of your screen. Getting rewards shipped to you will not be free, so this Kickstarter takes those costs into consideration as well.
When you pledge to back this project, you are moving from a fan who enjoys this music to a partner who is willing to support the vision as we all watch God do something great.
I am thrilled by your support thus far, but as you know, there is A LOT of work still left to do. So pretty, pretty please go spread the word! To God alone be glory!
Here's a peek at a few of the different rewards you get when you pledge:
Risks and challenges
Fortunately, these funds are already going toward a project that is currently in motion. The songs have been written, the studio dates have been set, and the right musicians are in place to make everything happen. I'm not paying an hourly rate at the studio either, but rather per song which helps me calculate even better how much the recording will cost. In view of all that, the only risk I can see would be general "production delays". The challenge would be keeping everything on schedule. As a musician who already has recorded, I understand that there needs to be room for re-recording, and minor tweaks. Taylor Webb, the engineer for the new record, is also the one mixing and co-producing the project. He mixed my recent EP "My Soul to Save," and I've grown to really trust this guy! He believes that the album in its final form should be no later than the end of the summer (if not sooner, like July or early August).
All that being said, unknowns come up all the time! We will keep our backers "in the know" so you can stay informed with the progress of the album as well as any hiccups that might come up so you can know how to pray for us.
