We use language to do incredible things - express our emotions, create music, solve problems, and create new ideas. Language is amazing! ...Except when it's not. When the language is getting out of control around you, JarGone is here to help.
How does it work?
Jargone is a speech recognition device with a companion mobile application that listens for user-entered "flagged" words. Users can pair their mobile devices to the jar via bluetooth and send a list of words to the jar via our mobile application. Add custom words, or select from a list of pre-compiled word packages by topic, such as Politics, or Overused Office Jargon.
If anyone uses those flagged words in conversation within range of the device, JarGone sets off an audible alarm and glows bright red. A simple tap on the lid mutes the alarm, or it times out after a few seconds and resumes normal operation.
With a rechargeable battery, you can take JarGone on the go, to the office, the classroom, or common areas at home, such as the kitchen or your children's play room. You can also leave it connected to power via a built in Micro USB port.
There are so many ways you can use JarGone. Keep the language clean and professional around the office. Correct improper speech and bad language with your kids. Eliminate negative language like "Can't", "Impossible", or "Quit" from your teams. If you're preparing for a big presentation, speech, or job interview, practice eliminating filler words, such as "like" and "you know" or "umm". And many more! We look forward to hearing from on you on how JarGone is improving communication around you.
We need your help to bring JarGone to the market. We will use your pledges to make final design updates and start production on the jars this year!
Risks and challenges
1. We’ve been working hard on the design that fits in 3 major environments - offices, schools, households. Each environment has its own aesthetic and feel, so by using the mason jar as inspiration - we have our smart jar that is not intrusive in any environment, but fits in well with any setting, modern or classic.
2.One of our concerns is about assembling of all the parts we are sourcing from multiple manufacturing partners. Our supply chain and production specialist will fully committed, so the device production moves forward as smooth as possible.
3.Since the device uses a fairly large lithium ion battery, we hope to be able to ship the device on time using air shipping services from major carriers. Recently there were updates in regulations that do not allow to carry power units while shipping air, so this is something we must overcome, perhaps sending batteries separately.
