This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Sun, April 7 2019 5:00 PM UTC +00:00.
March 2nd, 2019: WE HIT GOAL IN 11 DAYS!!!
Thank you to each and every supporter!
Stretch goal: For every 1,000 raised beyond goal, I will be able to add a new track to the EP. Up to 10! Which would make this EP and LP!
It's 2019 and I think it's time to release some new music! Want to see it happen? Here's our chance!
The night after playing the Bluebird Cafe for the first time on Feb. 9th, I was sitting at home with my guitar and felt challenged to drop my cynical view of the music biz for a couple hours. It was during that time I revisited songs that I had written and never played for anyone other than Amber, my wife... I really, really loved them and was able to not only play them again, I was able to HEAR them without music business prejudice. I was actually quite emotional.
The Bluebird Cafe show was a chance for me to play songs to a sold-out audience of mostly strangers (unfamiliar to both myself and my music career) and see real-time reactions to the songs. It was powerfully encouraging. At 48 years old, I felt like I had "something to say" as they were all based on real events in my life over these past few years. I was relating to people through song again. Deep songs about loss and frustration, but also carefree songs about a newfound love. I also love mindless, memorable songs just for fun too because sometimes, they are the best of the bunch!
My life had been turned inside out the past few years. An ugly road including self-sabotaging acts and subsequent situations and circumstances that ultimately served as a route to find Amber and the overwhelming love that we have together. (BTW- All things do work together for good...I confirm that with my experience).
I have learned a lot and experienced a ton of growth in areas of my life that were stale, ruined or maybe even seemed "too filthy" to be salvaged. I needed a reboot. Thankfully, I got it! ...and life these days has never been better.
Don't be alarmed: This project will NOT be melancholy in nature. Quite the opposite, actually.
I hope I get a chance to record these songs and have a snapshot of this season of life in musical form.
I'm passionate about my songs. I have given up on the thought of ever making money again in music, but I cannot afford to lose money making music. This is why I'm here with a Kickstarter campaign. Hoping that you will join me and help make this project a reality! ALL funds will go into the project 100%.
I feel good about this. I'm hopeful, but as with all things, it's ultimately up to God. If He puts a desire inside of you to support this project, I ask you follow through. If not, I understand because I testify: When God shuts one door, a better one is about to open. This goes for all of you too!
Better off than yesterday,
- $7,500 Budget will cover Recording, Mixing, Mastering, Graphic Design, Manufacturing, and Kickstarter fees.
- 6 Song EP ** (see below)
- Using top studio players in Nashville - A LOT of hits between them all.
- Rock with a tinge of modern country. I'm not scared to say that along with my traditional Bon Jovi, Cheap Trick, and Def Leppard influences, Keith Urban, Parmalee, and Luke Combs influences are also in there. Just know that I'm a rock singer and there will be no fake accents. lol
- Strong emphasis on songwriting and giving my all to sing them with the best of my abilities.
- Planning a July 1, 2019 release date.
- I plan to keep people heavily updated along the way. If you follow me on social media, you already know that I am always accessible and enjoy communicating with my audience.
- Funding campaign ends on my birthday, April 7th! Guess what I want for my birthday? ;-)
**Stretch Goal planned: If we hit goal, I will add an additional song to the project for every 1,000 dollars pledged above goal. Up to 10 songs!** Again: ALL funds go into the project.
Acoustic Versions of a couple songs I will record with a full band for this EP:
Risks and challenges
The biggest risk for me will be to have planned all of this and then not have it funded. But that's why I chose Kickstarter: It's all or nothing! It's been my experience that only a few hundred people carry the ball across the finish line to make these things work.
People have been asking me for years to record new music. Today, I agree to do it. The line between words and action has arrived. It's up to you to cross it. I know sometimes people have a hard time pledging when they are looking at their bank account. I've been there. I'm hopeful that those who can, will pledge. I would really like to make the vision I have for these songs a reality.
Other than that, I do not foresee any hold-ups. I've been involved in two crowd-funds: One generated 30k, one generated 18k...Unfortunately, both were a bit of a nightmare at the end of the day.
This will be the first campaign where I have total control over and I plan to do it RIGHT! No passing the buck cause there is no one to pass it too!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
