Have a question?
@SaschaP: Feuerland probably won’t make an official pack, but they might sell something comprised of spare parts.
Just a question because is see that a german Version of the game is out.
Will there be an Update Pack to Chance the parts of my game to german?
Thanks Marcel! I still enjoy writing about crowdfunding and entrepreneurship twice a week at kickstarterlessons.com. I continually learn from other creators, and perhaps they learn some things from me too. :)
Jamey, now, with several KS under my belt as backer, I can only second what has been written numerous times. This KS was great. Full stop.
And I think there are a lot of companies/creators that draw from your „how to run a Kickstarter (and how not)“ on your blog. Great material. Must read every potential creator should read FIRST. And which explains why you made your decision not to go with KS for the expansions.
And I cannot appreciate enough that there are expansions at all, adding meaningful content, and the game is not left alone when there is more story to tell (yeah, looking also at you, CMON ;))
Thanks Danimal! I'm glad you like the game, and it's nice to hear that about the pricing. Based on the manufacturing cost, Scythe should be priced around $90-$95, but I didn't want to charge people that much. And that's just for the retail components. While people can still buy all the promos and accessories from Kickstarter, the price is significantly higher than on Kickstarter.
jamey - another thank you for pricing this realistically and enforcing a price elsewhere. i still feel i got a great deal buying this early which is in stark comparison to most kickstarters dropping significantly at retail.
following suite here - Jamey - you set the bar for other companies and projects. This was a beautiful product, rich story, and by all accounts - an amazing game! whenever i have this setup it draws people over to see what it is and state its great looking. Sounds extremely complex until you show the icons and explain the bits to them. happily check out every product you release even if the genre or theme isn't something i'm not normally into
@"The Mad Rabbi", King of the Undead: I’m so glad you had a good experience with the Scythe Kickstarter! I can’t believe it’s been over 2 years since the campaign ended. :)
Best. Game. I've. Backed.
Best game layout, no damaged or missing items, best updating and communication between creator and backers.
Of the awards you've won, you deserve each and every one.
I've backed many games and some don't update and/or communicate with the backers. Two of my games took over a year to get and when i got them, i was missing stuff. Haven't heard anything since i emailed them
So, after it had be sitting on my shelf for almost 14 months unplayed (I'm one of those unfortunate souls that is more of a game collector/follower of board game media instead of an actual gamer due to a lack of time/opportunities), I finally brought the CE (plus Invaders from Afar) to the table yesterday when three friends came to visit.
And I'm glad to say it was a blast! Actually, everybody enjoyed it that much that we played three back-to-back games in over eight hours.
Apart from the sensual joy of playing with the big board and deluxe components, my friends explicitly praised the art design and iconography that makes looking up rules almost unnecessary.
Overall, the wait was surely worth it and we're all looking forward to exploring the game more (and to the Wind Gambit).
Jason: That price is for the retail version of Scythe. The base level on Kickstarter was $3 more expensive and included $20 worth of promos.
and now much cheaper... :(
Well done, Mike! They look great.
I finished painting the minis. Check them out here : http://mikepmosh.deviantart.com/gallery/57536613/Painting-Miniatures. I would appreciate your comments.
Definitely! Scythe will be on Dized. :)
@Jamey: Just heard backed a board game app "Dized". Wondering if you are interested to have Scythe part of it?
Thanks! It's quite an honor. I made sure to ask my stand-in to thank our Kickstarter backers in the speech (there's a video on the Scythe Facebook group).
Err I mean Origins award picture.
Congrats on the Origins Award. I cannot wait for you to show us all the bling you got for this great game.
I'm liking where the new box concept is going--especially that I can use my current lid since it's one of the numbered ones.
Woot new box is insta-buy! Sounds like the Broken Token insert will still fit, so thanks for being considerate of backwards compatibility (of the KS edition topper as well)!
@Mark Kevin Maginity: I think it's noted in the last update that if backers want to stay in the loop about Scythe stuff, they should subscribe to our enewsletter or join the Scythe Facebook group. However, I would be happy to post a project update to catch people up if they haven't opted into either of those options. I'll take care of that this week.
Jamey, if you don't mind my asking, why didn't you send out an update to this Kickstarter project about The Wind Gambit? I only just found out about it today (of course I immediately put my preorder in with Meeple Source). I would think an update would be happily received by the backers and immediately generate a lot of orders.
Miniature Market is having a one day sale today 06/09 and the retail version of Scythe is one of the games on sale.
that's exactly what i was talking about, thank you :)
@Chiky: Meeplesource has some coins and power dials that weren't on the Kickstarter, but for the encounter cards we've created for reviewers post-Kickstarter, we'll be releasing them later this year. See here: http://stonemaiergames.com/buy-scythe/
@Jamey, where can i get the promos that are not from the kickstarter? :o I saw meeplesource has some, but i'm not sure, as they say "Kisckstarter Promo Pack" i think i have them already
@Will: Thanks for sharing that! Make sure to let your friends know that they can still get all the special accessories and promos you got--they just have to pay for them separately. :) http://stonemaiergames.com/buy-scythe/
Jamey, thank you. This is now my "go to" strategy game. My friends are jealous of the detail and extra features I received for being a backer. The emails I continue to receive are worth the price alone.
@Jamey: Oh cool! I look forward to it. Thanks :)
@Robert: Indeed! We announced it in our e-newsletter a few weeks ago: https://stonemaiergames.com/games/scythe/scythe-the-wind-gambit/
Hi. I notice Jakub is continuing to churn out an abundance of high quality Scythe artwork, much of it with a distinctive airship theme of late. Any chance there is a second expansion on the horizon?
Marionneau: I can't find the links, but I know a few people have posted Scythe playlists on BGG and the Facebook group. Our partner for the digital version of Scythe is also working with some great musicians, and I'll make all of that music available when it's finalized.
I'm about to go for a game right now and I was just wondering what music people listened to play scythe (or even what the artist was listening to when he did the art). The illustrations are so special that it calls for some kind of a particular atmosphere too. Any ideas?
Very cool to hear players in the 6-7 player range having positive experiences. I'll have to snag Invaders soon!
Rick and Slyde: I'm glad to hear you had fun at the higher player counts! Those counts can drag a bit if you have a bunch of new players, but as I think you experienced, the time moves pretty quickly if everyone knows what they're doing.
Agreed. Last month I played with 7 players for the first time.
I was concerned that the downtime would be a killer, but it wasn't too bad, and we all had a blast. Game played in about 3 hours...
Played 6p with the invaders, and wanted to let you know what an absolute blast it was. The way the board and interactions change with more players , while remaining balanced is awesome.
Thanks Jamey. Formed filled out. All the best!
@Larry: Sure, if any part is broken or missing, you can ask for a replacement on this form: http://stonemaiergames.com/replacement-parts/
Hi Jamey. Ī bought the collectors edn during the kickstarter but only recently been able to play a lot. I've only just used the Saxon faction for the first time and noticed that the black worker meeples are smaller than the other factions (no real problem) but also that one of the workers is missing. I swapped it out for another colour but I won't be able to do this for a 5 player game. Hope you can help me out on this one. Thanks.
Henry, please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org to tell me how many encounter, objective, and Factory cards you have, as well as how many power dials.
Oy. I just saw that old reply you wrote to my initial message. I didn't check it. Is it too late now...
I still haven't received my 3 power dials and the kickstarter cards...
Maybe I received some kind of message, but I can't seem to find them.
I checked just in case I was mistaken. But I only have 2 dials (black and blue), 23 objective cards, 28 encounter cards, 12 factory cards.
Just played my first 6-player round and it was great. Super interesting with the new factions and their mechanics, as well as that much more resource contention I the board.
Thanks for sharing, Chris! I like Dave's idea. :)
Apologies on mis-spelling your name, btw, Jamey. Used to spelling the way our family member's name is spelled.
Hi Jamie - if you haven't seen Dave, The Happy Luza muscial tribute to Scythe, I highly recommend it! Check it out on YouTube in Dice Tower Zee's Board Game Blender video around 23:50 in...
Scythe win the As d'or (Golden Ace ), Expert Category Board Game at the FIJ 2017 in Cannes (France) ! Congrats
