Ellen: Thanks for your question. The updated recruit card packs should arrive at BGG in early January. They're on the slowest boat with all retail copies of Tuscany, which won't arrive until the last week of December. Add a few weeks to get them to St. Louis, then add a few more weeks to ship them to Texas for BGG.
Any idea when the new recruit cards will come up for sale on BGG? I have a couple other things to purchase there and I'm wondering whether I should wait a few days if it means getting the Euphoria cards in the same order!
@Clement: I appreciate your understanding. I feel like I should have pushed for it a bit more, but I really thought it would be easy for them to do. However, our partnership with Morning Players is a good one, so I expect things like this to continue to improve.
I'm glad you're willing to translate the cards for your friends! :)
@Jamey: Thanks for sharing your views on this situation. However, since this is completely out of your control, I don't feel you should be sorry for this decision.
As I said, I'm glad I have the limited edition, and will gladly help translate the specialist cards when playing it with people who don't understand english - who said that would give me an unfair advantage? ;)
@ClementXVII: I agree, I would have preferred for Morning Players to make the language pack that we originally discussed, and I'm sorry they decided to go a different route.
I saw someone from Morning Players during the Essen Fair, and asked about upgrade packs for the French version.
They told me they wouldn't be any, since their edition of the game has some differences with the initial one (wooden stars, one-page summary), and they had redone the board (with faction names).
They were however offering a discount of 15 EUR to purchasers of the game who owned the original.
I would have liked an upgrade pack even with the language change, but am happy with the Euphoria Supreme Copy sitting on my shelf.
Now if only publishers could design trays instead of 3rd parties, it'd be fantastic and well worth adding the extra expense to the final game (see: Seasons for example of a functional and fantastic insert).
So many games have great design, components, and in the case of Euphoria, an amazing developer who has great communication and customer service. I just can't for the life of me figure out why so many games I buy come with no inserts. I happily paid the $25 to Game Trayz (I also got the set for Terra Mystica too), but honestly, I should be paying the makers of the game instead.
This is so great. :)
Thanks Jamey :) I will try contact them directly.
Bertrand: I honestly don't know the answers to the first two questions, as I'm not the publisher of the French version. I'm sure that Morning Players could help you if you contacted them, though. As for the differences between the first print run and the second print run, other than the updated recruit cards, Morning Players has added a few extra commodity and resource tokens, and they also replaced the cardboard stars with wooden stars (based on a new design, not the original Kickstarter design).
How can we reserve a french version at Essen 2014 ? what is the price (euros) ?
by the way can you list the difference between first print and second print
I just realized I didn't link to the stats spreadsheet. Here it is: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tTLGPE_wjbURE-V-oHuspLgZfIJ_xD3qUbpl792hFbI/edit…
Klaus: I accidentally posted two images of the German game instead of the French one. My apologies.
I don't do backer-only updates, but my assumption is that the vast majority of people who read these updates are Euphoria backers. If other people (or $1 backers) gain addition value from it, that's great! I try to respect my backers by only posting updates that apply specifically to them.
How do you know that we all have the game? This is not a backer only update, and even if only backers see it, 171 backers backed for a toast only.
And you did not include a picture of the French edition.
@RSF: That's a good question. I'm not quite sure what we would do, but I have thought about it. I know that Game Trayz might do a Kickstarter campaign for their next tray (I don't know the game). For us, I would love to put that quality of tray in all future games, especially games with lots of bits and pieces. So I might try to hire them just to make the mould for the tray/insert and then mass produce the tray in China through our manufacturer, pending negotiations with Game Trayz. It's definitely a premium product, though, so I'm not sure they'd want to dilute their brand by doing that.
@RSF: Indeed, that is quite pricey for shipping the trays down there. I think the best scenario would be to put together a group shipment for down there.
hehe you can tell that I found the "trayz" so tempting, that I took it all the way to the checkout to see how much the final cost would be. For $35 I'd probably wear it.. but $60 - I just can't justify it (as much as I want to). Have to be sensible sometimes. ;)
Jamey, do you think this is something you might consider for a future project eg. the super deluxe edition with fancy trays? :D
Those trays look awesome but at $60 total (including $25 shipping) to AU that's just too much. :-( But they definitely look great & really seem to enhance the overall look of Euphoria (would never have thought that possible!). Interesting statistics & I'm sure European players will be super excited about the localised prints. Thanks again for the update Jamey.
The only good game tray is one out of the box.
For Brian the Viticulture, the "at least once" is meant to clarify that his ability can be used multiple times, but the benefit only activates once no matter how many times he replaces bliss with food.
For Esme, you gain an extra energy, lose an extra knowledge, and gain an extra morale if you discard a book instead of any other artifact card.
For Steven, there really is no change--it's just clarified wording. As you can see, some of the changes are very subtle, while some are more pronounced.
Brian the Viticultist
what does it mean "at least once" ?
you can gain Wastelander aller only once ?
Esme the fireman
discard to gain electric + intelligence / heart
if you use book gain elec + intelligence + heart ?
The new Steven the Scholar works only when rolling a new worker.
what does it mean ? text on v.2 cards look same meaning to me.
@Milo: Yeah, it is easier for the Icarite track (or any track, really) to advance quickly if multiple players start with a recruit of that faction. I'm glad you had a close game, and congrats on the win!
just played 6 players game
when you are only 1 start with sub terran
others start with Icarites
my first reaction is ****
Icarite llegiance track full really fast while sub terra only 3 at the end of the game.
but I manage to win . I love this game.
star left 1/1/1/2/3
really close game.
Definitely! See my note below about contacting Game Trayz about that. :)
Good question, but given that their utility is the same, we are only printing and spending graphic design resources on the faced recruit cards.
Got the tray as add-on for New Salem, haven't pulled the trigger yet on the Euphoria/Terra Mystica ones yet cause of the shipping costs to EU. If there is any news on lower shipping costs .. let us know ;), will try mailing them about it.
Box art looks good for the international versions!
I love the idea of Game Trayz, but $35 shipped for a few pieces of molded plastic is too expensive.
Yeah, unfortunately the postage and subsequent import VAT makes this tray an expensive item for us UK and EU (and probably ROW) people. It does look awesome though, so I have email Game Trayz to ask if they are going to set up a UK/EU distribution deal.
The trays do look great though and I would love to have one for me and some for the shop!
Looking forward to the V2 cards in December. Will there be v2 printings for the faceless recruits from the Kickstarter as well? Or PnP options?
Dermott and Stephen: Game Trayz is trying to find a way to work with Morning Players for order fulfillment in the EU. If you're interested in the tray but need a lower price due to shipping, you should write to Game Trayz to tell them. (I've been pushing Noah at Game Trayz on this, but I think he'll hear it more if it comes from potential customers.)
Love the trays, want one. Can't self-justify paying a shipping cost that is virtually the same as the cost of the tray :(
i would love to get my euphoria insert together with the terra mystica version they made.. BUT.. sending it to europe is... too expensive :-( sadly no european company sells something like that. :-(
Marwan: Indeed, the Game Trays not only allow for sleeved cards in the bottom compartment, but they also have extra compartments for future expansions (tiles and cards).
Jonas: Awesome! I hope you get to stop by the booth to ask Tim about the language pack. :)
Hi! Do the Game Trays for Euphoria allow for sleeved cards?
I love the trays!
Awesome news. I will be in Essen demoing for Steve Jackson and Pegasus. Can't wait to have a German language pack.
I also received m game tray today which looks even better in real live then in the pictures. I can totally recommend it (even tho I paid more for the tray then for the game) ;)
Cheers from Germany Jonas
