Cardthrower Castle is an all action game of fantasy siegecraft where you grind your enemy's castle-deck into dust by literally throwing boulders, dead mammoths and severed heads at it (well card versions at least).
If chucking cards weren't enough, you can also send troops to attack your foe and apply sneaky, cunning tactics to foil their plans!
This game is incredibly new and different with a fun style of play. Actually throwing your hand at your opponent is an experience not to be missed.
How it Started
The original concept for Cardthrower Castle is inspired by a board game from the 80s called Crossbows and Catapults where each player gets a miniature fortress made of plastic bricks and a selection of working siege weapons. It was an incredible game and I thought that there had to be a way to bring this masterpiece to the modern world.
Originally I made a more traditional card game where you played cards against one another by placing them on the table much like Magic the Gathering or Pokemon. However, what made the original Crossbows and Catapults so exciting was the physical element; the act of actually aiming and hitting caused the game to stand apart from all other board and card games that were out there.
I mocked up a few cards and tried it on my own but it didn't feel quite right. Then one dark, stormy night my cohort Milnosh came to visit and we didn't have anything to play so I suggested we tried this unusual card throwing idea. Well, as soon as the second person appeared the feel of the game changed drastically and it's simply been a process of refining the balance of the game ever since.
So after much testing, refining and design we present to you Cardthrower Castle.
Thank you so much for taking the time to look at this project. It's a great game to play and something really different. Please feel free to write with any questions. - James
Risks and challenges
We've been making games for 20 years now so I don't foresee any issues with regard to creating the game. We are however, very conscious of getting the game to you in a timely manner which is why the rewards and stretch goals are so straightforward. If we get a huge response then we are going to be up all night for days making sure you can start hurling siege missiles at your friends as soon as possible. In conclusion, you're gonna get your game, and you're gonna get it quick.
