Dead Legends - A Martial Arts Graphic Novel (Canceled)
A graphic novel filled with brutal murder, cold revenge, and incredible martial arts action!
A widow seeking revenge. A champion hellbent on losing. An assassin second-guessing her contract. With over 100 pages of story and many more pages of extra features, Dead Legends is the martial arts throwback series that hits harder than a kick to the skull, brought to you by a group of dedicated comics pros who are prepared to deliver excitement with every turn of the page.
With brutal martial arts battles and an action-packed tale, Dead Legends starts with the story of Yan, who enters a martial arts tournament to avenge the murder of her husband. Her plan is to infiltrate the tournament grounds, eliminate the killer and make a speedy exit. But quick revenge isn’t in Yan’s future, and soon she’s facing down the most hardened challengers the tournament has to offer, cracking heads and moving through the ranks as she fights her way toward her main target.
For an idea of what we'll be creating, check out this preview:
As the story progresses, we're introduced to a cast of characters that make Dead Legends more involved than your run-of-the-mill bracket & tier fight tale. From Damon, the champion who has grown tired of winning every battle he fights; to Red Death, the assassin who must enter the tournament to reach her target; to Stalk and Ward, two tournament fighters who get caught up in the struggles that Yan faces, each character in Dead Legends adds a little more to a story that has as explosive an ending as each of the battles that occur throughout the series.
This series has been at the forefront of James' and Gavin's minds for over a year, and while other projects have come and gone, Dead Legends has always been a story they both knew they would tackle. Now that day has come. With your backing, this labor of love will have the focus and attention it deserves from an extremely talented list of professionals.
Beyond that, you get to experience the journey of the creative team through updates, from the happiness as more of the series gets completed to the successes gained as wider recognition for a story that we all feel so passionately toward begins to ramp up. Your help in creating this series will be appreciated more than we can say.
Finances for this book are the main thing that have kept us from moving forward on our own. While Gavin and James are happy to forego upfront payment, they wanted to make sure that the talents they were bringing to the project didn't have to make that same sacrifice. Because of that, the bulk of the money brought in through this campaign will be used to pay for coloring, lettering and editing. The rest of the funds will be put toward printing and shipping costs, fees, reward fulfillment and taxes.
In this way, we will be able to create a visually and narratively amazing series while generating both a lot of buzz and a substantial readership that far surpasses what we are able to attract during the campaign.
We love this series and these characters, and can't wait to create a comic that will live up to the vision we have for it and them.

Risks and challenges
Everyone involved in Dead Legends has been working in comics for quite some time. We know how to meet our deadlines, be it with personal projects or with published work, and we know how to produce great work while doing so.
As of launch, we have the first issue complete with inks and awaiting colors and letters, and we have half of issue two complete with inks. That means we have a little over three issues left to produce. This will take time, but this series is at the top of our list to get done and ready for readers both here and out in the rest of the world.
That said, life happens to the best of us (just ask James about his recent wreck on I-78), but there are no foreseen obstacles that would delay us more than a few weeks in the production of this book.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
